With nearly VND 30 billion in scholarship offers, Dewey alumnus Hoàng Tuấn Anh (12 Denver, Class of 2025) is now studying Business Information Systems at The University of Queensland, Australia. Looking back, Tuấn Anh believes Dewey prepared him for university in ways that went far beyond academics.
Growing up in a multicultural school community, he became comfortable learning with international teachers and friends from different backgrounds. Humanities, International Day, and other hands-on experiences gave him plenty of opportunities to explore different cultures, share his own views, and see things from more than one perspective. So when he moved to Australia, being part of an international community already felt familiar.
Dewey also gave Tuấn Anh room to make choices about his own learning. Balancing schoolwork with projects, extracurricular activities, and personal goals taught him how to manage his time, take initiative, and go after the things that interested him.
That became especially valuable at university. With more freedom over his schedule came more responsibility for how he used it. Tuấn Anh was already used to setting priorities, planning his time, and working towards goals without waiting to be pushed — habits that helped him adjust to a more independent way of learning.
That freedom to explore also helped him understand himself better. Through different projects and activities, he began to notice what genuinely interested him, what kind of problems he enjoyed solving, and where his strengths naturally came through.
Over time, he found himself drawn less to abstract ideas and more to understanding how things work, how problems can be solved, and how technology can make processes better. That eventually led him to Business Information Systems — a field where business thinking and technology come together.
For Tuấn Anh, Dewey did not map out one path to follow. It gave him the space to explore, the confidence to make his own choices, and the independence to start shaping a direction of his own.
Now, in a much bigger world, he is ready to keep learning, exploring, and seeing where that path might lead.
