To inspire dreams and encourage students in remote mountainous areas to stay in school, the Edufit Charity Fund, in collaboration with The Dewey Schools and Sakura Montessori International Schools, has launched a meaningful project titled “Schools of Dream.” To date, the “Schools of Dream” charity journey by Edufit has built, upgraded, and repaired 13 schools across 8 provinces nationwide.
For the 2024 – 2025 school year, after thorough surveys and evaluations, the corporation’s leadership has selected Bao Nam 1 Semi-boarding Elementary School for Ethnic Minority Students, located in Bao Nam Commune, Ky Son District, Nghe An Province, as the next destination to continue the “Schools of dream” project 2025.
Bao Nam 1 Semi-boarding Elementary School is situated in one of the most challenging border districts of Nghe An Province. All of its students belong to the Kho Mu ethnic minority, with 85% coming from impoverished or near-impoverished households. Due to the school’s remote location, with some villages over 10 kilometers away, most students must board at the school.
Bao Nam 1 School currently comprises 5 campuses, including 1 main campus and 4 satellite campuses. At the main campus, due to a shortage of classrooms, the school has had to repurpose temporary structures such as a garage, corrugated metal rooms, and a deteriorated wooden library as makeshift classrooms. Auxiliary facilities, such as dormitories, bathrooms, and toilets, fail to meet basic living standards.
Due to economic hardships, the students face significant challenges in their education. Their only learning resources are worn-out textbooks handed down from previous cohorts. During the cold winters in the village, they lack adequate warm clothing and proper footwear.
On November 22 – 23, 2024, representatives from the Edufit Charity Fund, parents, and the Youth Union of the Ministry of Public Security’s Communications Department collaborated with the Nghe An Provincial Police, the Bao Nam Commune People’s Committee, and the school’s Board of Management to conduct a survey to assess the school’s specific needs. Based on these findings, practical support plans have been developed to assist the school, its teachers, and students:
- “Building Schools Together” Initiative: Constructing a modern, well-equipped campus with an innovative design provided by Edufit.
- “Building Dreams Together” Initiative: Organizing four charity activities led by The Dewey Schools and one by the Sakura Montessori schools, involving active participation from students.
- “Stepping Confidently into the Future” Initiative: Launching a long-term support project to provide students with knowledge and skills, implemented by The Dewey Schools community.
We would like to share with parents and students some real images captured during the survey at Bao Nam 1 School. Edufit believes that the “Schools of dream” project 2025 will not only provide students with a more modern and comfortable learning environment but also serve as a journey to ignite hope and inspire students in remote mountainous areas to attend school. Every gift given and every act of kindness shared becomes a valuable asset, helping these students take confident steps on their journey of knowledge. Through meaningful projects like this, lessons about love, generosity, and community responsibility will also be instilled in Dewey and Sakura students, fostering their understanding and inspiring them to spread these values far and wide.
