The Dewey System-wide Literature Olympiad is an annual academic competition for TDSers who are passionate about Literature. More than just a contest, it is an opportunity for students to showcase the depth of their thinking, literary sensitivity, and impressive language abilities. This year’s competition witnessed many remarkable performances, with students demonstrating profound perspectives, strong personal voices, and well-structured arguments that went far beyond the framework of a typical examination essay. Congratulations to the 30 outstanding students who rose above 136 contestants to achieve the highest honors this season!

This year’s exam created a space for students to both discuss pressing social issues and explore the core values of literature through two sections: social argumentative writing and literary analysis. Many essays stood out thanks to their multidimensional approaches, the ability to connect literary references with personal experiences, and the use of vivid, emotional language while still maintaining logic and academic rigor. It was precisely this balance between emotion and critical thinking that made each piece uniquely reflective of the TDSers’ identities.

Participating in the competition for the second time, Bao Tram (7Solna – The Dewey Schools Tay Ho Tay) achieved an impressive Second Prize with an essay highly praised for its literary depth and coherent arguments. She shared: “The competition gives me the opportunity to connect with peers who share the same love for literature. It is also a chance for me to evaluate my academic abilities, sharpen my writing skills, and express my personal voice through the richness of language. With every essay and every competition experience, I gain more confidence and valuable lessons to continue pursuing my passion for writing in the future.”

At Dewey, Literature is not approached merely as a subject, but as a journey that helps students connect with emotions, broaden their perspectives, and develop independent thinking. The school believes that through system-wide competitions like this, students will continue nurturing their love for language while confidently mastering the art of expression with courage and individuality.
