Every student’s journey of growing up is unique. For children to move forward with confidence, families and schools play equally important roles as partners along the way. With this in mind, The Dewey Schools hosted the 2026–2027 Parent Orientation as an opportunity for the School and parents to gain a clearer understanding of the educational direction for the new school year, share expectations, and build a common understanding.
In the 2026–2027 school year, Well-being remains one of the School’s key priorities, with a focus on creating a learning environment that supports students’ holistic development – physically, emotionally, and in their ability to build meaningful connections with others. Alongside Social-Emotional Learning and Experiential Learning, Dewey continues to strengthen its core educational directions, from Global Citizenship and Intercultural Learning to Digital Citizenship. These approaches work hand in hand with the School’s Student Counseling and Special Education support systems, creating a strong foundation for nurturing students who are independent, resilient, and compassionate. Together, they help create a learning environment where every student feels heard, understood, and empowered to grow in their own way.
Nurturing a child takes a strong connection between home and school. During the Orientation, parents received an overview of the programmes, projects, and activities planned for the school year, while also having the opportunity to speak directly with their child’s Homeroom Teacher about their learning and development. These open conversations help families and the School better understand one another, creating a consistent and thoughtful approach to supporting each student.
This partnership is also built on openness and transparency. From educational directions and school activities to policies and communication channels through the Smart School Management (SSM) system, the School proactively shares information so parents have what they need to stay informed, ask questions, and work closely with teachers. Clear and open communication helps build trust and strengthens the connection between home and school.
When families and schools are aligned, students have a stronger foundation from which to step into the world, take ownership of their learning, and shine in their own way. Together, we can nurture happy hearts and create an environment where every TDSers grows up surrounded by care, feels heard, and has the freedom to explore a journey that is truly their own.
