On October 26, the Dewey Sports Tournament took place in a vibrant atmosphere, bringing together nearly 1,000 athletes competing in seven different sports. This event was an exciting sports playground and a bridge connecting parents, students, teachers, and staff within the Dewey community.
While autumn brings cool weather to Hanoi, the atmosphere at Dewey was hotter than ever. At the Aquatots blue track, young “swimmers” competed in events like breaststroke, freestyle, and backstroke. The intense sprints kept spectators on the edge of their seats. The sporting spirit was equally alive on the soccer field, where young players impressed with thrilling ball chases and impressive passes. Parents and Dewey teachers shined in friendly matches, displaying confident play and remarkable goals. Meanwhile, the gym became a “fiery arena” for major events like basketball, badminton, tug-of-war, and obstacle courses.
Beyond the main competitions, the game area was just as lively, featuring fun activities like blindfolded drum-hitting and ball shaking. Laughter, joy, and excitement filled the air as TDSers enjoyed each moment; sweat soaked their shirts, but smiles never left their faces. Thousands of hearts beat in unison in Dewey’s electrifying atmosphere.
Beyond a simple sports tournament, the Dewey Sports Tournament has become a symbol of unity, love, and sharing, celebrating the beautiful values of family. Warm hugs, pure smiles, and cheering voices resonated throughout the stands, creating a joyful, high-energy atmosphere.
This year’s Dewey Sports Tournament left a special mark with nearly 20 charity fundraising booths, operated by the Dewey Student Council (DSC), various clubs, and grade levels at Dewey. These diverse booths, featuring food stalls, handmade goods, exhibitions, and music, received enthusiastic support from parents, students, and teachers alike. Notably, the charity auction organized by the Dewey Community Fund exceeded all expectations, raising 100 million VND. Combined with funds raised from the booths, the total reached nearly 107 million VND. Of this, 10 million VND will go to the TDSers’ Entrepreneurship Club, with the remaining amount contributed to the Dewey Community Fund to support disadvantaged students across the country and help make their dreams of attending school a reality.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Van, a parent of 3Agra student, shared her thoughts: “I am very pleased that the school organized such a meaningful sports festival. It’s not only about intense competition and physical development, but also brings valuable lessons in teamwork, connection, and sharing. The charity auction was also a wonderful way to educate and nurture kindness in our children. Though my contributions at today’s auction may be modest, they reflect my heart and the children’s, hoping to bring better things to students in difficult situations. I also hope the school will continue to hold meaningful charity events like this to inspire students to actively contribute to the community and spread these beautiful acts of kindness.”
