With a steadfast commitment to pursuing the “torch” of knowledge, students from The Dewey Schools Hải Phòng continue to bring pride to the Dewey community by achieving outstanding results in international academic competitions such as the Fermat Mathematical Olympiad (FMO), the Future Intelligence Students Olympiad (FISO), and the “Nurturing Literary Talents” Writing Competition organized by Văn học và Tuổi trẻ magazine.
Sharing about his journey to winning a Gold Medal at the Future Intelligence Students Olympiad (FISO)—a competition that brings together five fields: Mathematics, English, IQ, Informatics, and Science—Nguyễn Phương Minh (10 Quebec) believes that the most important factor is maintaining a sense of curiosity in learning.“When reviewing, I usually break knowledge into smaller parts and try explaining the concept as if I were teaching someone else. That way, I remember it longer and understand it more deeply,” Phương shared. This approach also reflects the spirit of active learning at The Dewey Schools, where students are encouraged to develop independent learning skills, freely explore new ideas, and transform knowledge into true understanding.
From classroom lessons and interdisciplinary projects to research activities and extracurricular experiences, students are encouraged to ask questions, seek information, and develop their own perspectives. This proactive learning journey helps them build strong academic confidence, flexible thinking, and the ability to adapt to diverse challenges when participating in both national and international competitions.
Congratulations to these inspiring “stars” for their remarkable achievements. May they continue nurturing their passion for learning and exploration, and reach even greater milestones on the exciting journey ahead.
