As the crisp early-autumn air settles in, Dewey’s halls and school grounds are once again filled with the familiar footsteps of TDSers returning to school. Bright smiles, warm hugs shared with teachers and friends, and the proud looks from parents all came together to make the first day back one to remember. After a long summer apart, being reunited with familiar faces and returning to a place that feels like home was all the energy TDSers needed to get ready for everything that lies ahead.
For the 2026–2027 school year, Dewey and TDSers are embarking on a new journey guided by the theme “Mindful Hearts – Soaring Wings.” We believe that every journey of growth begins with learning to listen to ourselves, embrace our feelings, and nurture who we are on the inside. When children feel loved, trusted, and free to be themselves, they gain the confidence to explore the world and spread their wings in their own unique way.
That spirit came to life on the Back to School stage this year. Through the language of art and movement, the special theatrical dance performance “Soaring” told an inspiring story in which every student is a color of their own – unique, vibrant, and beautifully different. When nurtured with love, patience, and a safe environment, each color can shine in its own way, coming together to create a picture full of life and possibility.
And then came the moment that seemed to light up the entire hall: “Wings of Dreams” Hundreds of TDSers raised their feathers high, moving them together in rhythm amid cheers and bright, excited faces, creating a joyful moment that brought everyone together. As the feathers moved in unison, they came together to form a pair of wings carrying dreams, hope, and bright possibilities for the journey ahead.
The school drumbeat rang out after inspiring words from the School Leadership Team, officially marking the beginning of a brand-new school year! Ahead lie curious minds at work, new things to discover, new experiences to try, and countless stories waiting to be written together. And through it all, teachers and parents will be there to listen, encourage, and cheer TDSers on every step of the way.
The heartfelt melody of “A Million Dreams” filled the air, carrying with it the hopes and dreams for the school year ahead. The first day back may have come to an end, but the excitement for all that lies ahead has only just begun.
