Before class begins, TDSers take a few moments to ask themselves: “How am I feeling today?” Some feel happy, some excited, while others may feel sad or simply not quite themselves. By learning to name and share their emotions, students gradually come to understand themselves better.
These small moments of pause are part of Well-being Week, organised in recognition of World Mental Health Day on 10 October, under the theme “Happy School” and the message “Mindful Hearts, Soaring Wings.”

Throughout the week, TDSers wrote compliments and kind wishes for their friends, sent anonymous messages of encouragement, and thanked people who had helped them. Some messages were only a few lines long and some cards were very small, but they were enough to help someone feel seen, appreciated, and cared for.
On Colour Day, the campus came alive with yellow for happiness, purple for kindness, and green for mental health awareness.

At The Dewey Schools, these moments do not end when Well-being Week is over. Every day, through a teacher checking in, a lesson about emotions, or relationships built on mutual respect, students continue learning how to understand themselves and care for others. When they feel safe, heard, and that they belong, they have a stronger foundation to learn with confidence, step outside their comfort zones, and grow with greater inner resilience.
Parents, let’s look back on some of the memorable moments from Well-being Week below. 👇
