“I see a true business mindset in the presentations by the groups: professional, comprehensive with detailed data, and well-developed. I was particularly impressed by the 3D design of Trung Kien (11Orlando), who has accomplished work comparable to that of a second-year student at a top university in Hanoi,” remarked Architect Tran Quoc Viet, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Architecture and Planning at the University of Civil Engineering, regarding the projects created by TDSers for the recent Grade 11 Mathematics Project.
After more than three months of dedicated effort, the Grade 11 TDSers concluded their journey of creating the Mathematics Project with an emotional and impactful presentation. With the challenge of “Designing the Dream House” under a budget constraint of 4 billion VND, the student teams overcame numerous obstacles with outstanding success, transforming their ideas on paper into tangible and creative products.
In addition to 2D and 3D drawings designed entirely by the students themselves, the TDSers also prepared detailed construction cost estimates, budget allocations for interior design, operations, and more. Stepping into the roles of skilled architects, the students confidently presented their ideas and strategies to their “clients.” From smart garden concepts to interior designs aligned with feng shui principles, the projects impressed the judges with their clever integration of mathematics and practical applications.
“I highly value this project; the school has guided the students to approach mathematical thinking through the lens of architecture. This is a very creative and effective combination. The project takes a broad, interdisciplinary approach, requiring Grade 11 students to familiarize themselves with various real-life roles within a project, such as the responsibilities of investors, site conditions, current status, using formulas, reorganizing and structuring spaces, and more. I believe this is a very forward-thinking direction and an incredibly meaningful platform for the students,” remarked Architect Quoc Viet.
The Grade 11 Mathematics Project was not just an academic assignment but also a journey to ignite passion, develop logical thinking, and enhance problem-solving skills through the practical application of mathematics. With their outstanding project presentations, TDSers have demonstrated that, with effort and creativity, they can “beyond the blueprint” and conquer challenges.
