The 2026 National High School Graduation Mathematics Exam continued to reflect a clear emphasis on differentiation. Memorizing formulas or practicing countless test papers is no longer enough to achieve outstanding results. Questions involving renewable energy, production optimization, and data analysis required students to think critically, model real-life situations mathematically, and apply problem-solving skills in authentic contexts.

Lê Uyên Nhi (Grade 12 Washington DC, The Dewey Schools Hải Phòng) achieved an impressive 9/10 in Mathematics—a result that even surprised her. “I believe the key to earning a 9 in Mathematics was maintaining a proactive learning mindset, connecting mathematical knowledge with real-life situations, and developing strong problem-solving skills,” Uyên Nhi shared.
At Dewey, Mathematics is taught through a clear, personalized learning pathway. Learning materials are carefully designed around different achievement goals—7+, 8+, and 9+—allowing students to choose a progression that best matches their abilities. Every topic is structured from worked examples and in-class practice to homework assignments and advanced extension tasks.
Beyond textbooks, Uyên Nhi also explored Mathematics through authentic, project-based experiences such as the Statistics Project in Grade 8 and the Shark Tank Business Project in Grade 11. Concepts including revenue, profit, cost, break-even point, and optimization became real challenges that students analyzed, calculated, and solved themselves.
As a result, when encountering real-world mathematical problems in this year’s examination, Uyên Nhi did not view them as unfamiliar question types. Instead, she remained calm, carefully analyzed the information provided, and approached each problem using the analytical thinking she had developed over the years.
