At Dewey, students are seen not only through what they learn, but also through how they feel, connect with others, and grow each day. We want every TDSer to have the physical strength to explore, the sense of safety to be themselves, and the confidence to gradually discover and pursue a path of their own.
With this in mind, Well-being at Dewey is nurtured through five interconnected dimensions, each contributing to students’ holistic growth and development.
PHYSICAL HEALTH
A fulfilling day at school begins with a healthy body and the energy to engage with the world. Physical Education, regular opportunities for movement, school nutrition, healthcare, and safety education together provide a strong foundation for students to learn, play, and explore. Along the way, students also develop healthy habits and learn to take greater responsibility for caring for and protecting their own bodies.
PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING
Some days bring joy; others may come with worry, pressure, or emotions that are difficult to understand or put into words. Through Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), opportunities to be heard, and access to psychological support when needed, students gradually develop a deeper understanding of themselves, learn to regulate their emotions, and feel more confident seeking help when they need it.
POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS
Happiness at school can begin with something as simple as a friend who is willing to listen, a teacher a student knows they can trust, or a community where they feel free to be themselves. At Dewey, we foster a culture of respect, listening, and collaboration so that every student can feel connected, valued, and genuinely part of the school community.
SELF-EFFICACY AND CONFIDENCE
Confidence does not grow only from success. It is also built each time a student has the courage to try, falls short, reflects, makes adjustments, and keeps going. Through projects, school activities, clubs, and challenges throughout the year, TDSers have opportunities to discover their strengths, set meaningful goals, and gradually build confidence in their own ability to learn, improve, and make progress.
MEANING AND PURPOSE
When learning connects with personal values, community, civic responsibility, and students’ aspirations for the future, they begin to see beyond the lesson immediately in front of them. Over time, students gain a clearer sense of what matters to them, what they hope to pursue, and how their strengths and abilities can contribute something meaningful to the people and communities around them.

At Dewey, Well-being is nurtured every day through learning experiences, relationships, and the many moments that shape school life. A healthy body, a resilient inner world, and a growing sense of self-worth give students a strong foundation from which to move forward with confidence, follow their own path, and find fulfilment throughout their journey of becoming.
