For many Grade 12 students, choosing a university major can be a difficult decision. For Huy Phúc (12 Detroit, Dewey Tay Ho Tay) and Ngoc My (12 Washington DC, Dewey Hai Phong), however, the answer began to take shape much earlier through hands-on projects and opportunities to put their ideas into practice at Dewey. These experiences helped them discover what they enjoy, recognize their strengths, and confidently choose Thuongmai University and the fields they hope to pursue.

For Ngoc My, her interest in Marketing began with Maths projects connected to sales activities. Taking part in everything from developing a product to selling and promoting it, My became especially interested in understanding customers’ needs and perspectives. Through these experiences, she recognized her strengths and became confident that Marketing was the right field for her.
Huy Phúc discovered his interest in business through a project in Grade 10. Starting with an initial idea, he developed a business model, forecast its growth over five years, and adapted his plan in response to factors that could affect the business. Turning an idea into a concrete plan helped Phúc realize that he enjoys dynamic environments where he can be creative and take the initiative in solving problems. This experience led him to choose Business Administration as the field he wants to pursue.

Two different fields, two different starting points, but both choices grew from the same process: trying things out, making decisions, reflecting on the results, and learning more about themselves. Learning projects at Dewey give students opportunities to apply what they learn while gaining a clearer understanding of their interests, strengths, and possible paths forward.
Because planning for the future does not always begin with knowing exactly who you want to become. Sometimes, what students need first is the opportunity to try, discover who they are, and build confidence in the path they choose.
