Hoàng Lam Giang, a 7th-grade student in Dewey Ocean Park’s Amsterdam class, is a remarkable young girl with a deep passion for Mathematics. However, few know that Giang’s journey to embracing Math was not an easy one. As a member of the Math team at her previous school, the pressure and passive learning methods nearly made her give up on her passion. However, it was the unwavering support from her family and the teachers at Dewey that helped her rediscover her love for the subject, regain her confidence, and continue her path in Mathematics.

Moving to a new learning environment is always a big challenge, but at Dewey, Giang was introduced to a new way of learning, with exciting activities and projects, where students are at the center of everything. After nearly a year at Dewey, she has achieved impressive results: scoring the highest Math exam score in her class with 9.25 points in the first semester’s final exam, ranking in the top 20% of students excelling in Math, Vietnamese, English, and Science, and receiving the Student of the Month award for three consecutive months—recognizing students who most embody Dewey’s core values.

When asked about her achievements, Lam Giang humbly shared: “At Dewey, the teachers encourage me to be creative and express my opinions. The learning methods here are not only easy to understand but also incredibly fun. I get to learn through projects and real-life situations, which helps me retain the knowledge for much longer. Especially, after joining the Math team at Dewey, I realized how important Math is to me and how it serves as a solid stepping stone toward my dream of entering a specialized school. Math isn’t just a subject; it’s the foundation that brings me closer to my goal. Thanks to the dedicated and creative support from my teachers, my learning goals have expanded and become much clearer.”

Mr. Nguyễn Gia Đại, Giang’s Math teacher and the leader of the Math team at Dewey, shared that Dewey’s differentiated teaching method has played a key role in unlocking students’ potential and passion. This method not only helps teachers identify and develop each student’s strengths but also encourages creativity and independent thinking, allowing each student to grow in their own way. “I always accompany my students, guiding them step by step in analyzing and setting their own high goals. For students passionate about Math, I provide opportunities for them to tackle advanced problems and maximize their potential. For those who fear Math, I start with the basics, helping them overcome their fears and gradually become familiar with the subject in a natural, approachable way.”

Thanks to Dewey’s differentiated teaching approach, Hoàng Lam Giang has overcome her initial challenges and is now closer to realizing her dreams. Lam Giang’s learning journey is a clear example that with the right support and a suitable learning method, every student can grow and discover their full potential.
