Last week, the Dewey campus felt a little different in the most delightful way. Some students showed up carrying their books in cooking pots, others swapped backpacks for plastic bags or the most unexpected items they could find. In another corner of campus, classrooms buzzed with laughter as students transformed into “mini versions” of their teachers, mimicking hairstyles, outfits, and even signature walks with uncanny accuracy. Nearby, TDSers quietly sat at the “Messages of Love Station,” carefully handwriting notes to friends, teachers, and family members, while laughter echoed through the hallways in the way only school memories can.

That was the spirit of “Light Days, Good Vibes” Week, a special Well-being initiative that brought moments of joy, connection, and emotional recharge to TDSers during the final stretch of the school year. Without needing grand events or complicated activities, it was these small but meaningful moments that made school feel like a place where students could truly relax, be themselves, and enjoy simply being together.
Throughout the week, a series of fun and creative activities unfolded across campus. There was a day to dress as teachers, an “Anything But a Backpack Day,” and of course, Color Day. Little by little, the school transformed into a spontaneous showcase of creativity and personality, where students expressed themselves freely while strengthening the sense of community within their classes and grade levels.

Yet amid all the laughter and excitement, there were also quieter moments that invited everyone to slow down. At the “Messages of Love Station,” students wrote heartfelt notes of appreciation to friends, teachers, and family members using simple but sincere words. And because the week coincided with President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday on May 19th, several activities were thoughtfully woven in to help students reflect on gratitude, kindness, respect, and responsibility through the small actions of everyday life.

At Dewey, Well-being is not simply a themed week or a few relaxing activities after stressful exams. It is a core part of the educational experience woven into everyday school life. The school believes students can only truly thrive when their physical, emotional, and mental well-being are nurtured with equal care; when they feel heard, respected, safe, and free to be themselves. That sense of belonging and emotional security becomes the foundation for students to build confidence, develop resilience, and cultivate a genuine love of learning.
Because ultimately, a positive school environment does more than help students achieve academically. It helps them grow into emotionally healthy individuals who know how to care for themselves, build meaningful relationships, and find joy throughout the journey of growing up.
