According to the World Economic Forum, independent thinking, critical reasoning, and effective communication are among the essential skills learners must develop to thrive in an increasingly dynamic and unpredictable world. Dewey’s young debaters are steadily cultivating and demonstrating these core competencies on major academic stages, earning remarkable achievements along the way.
Surpassing more than 300 young debaters nationwide, Như Khôi and Bảo Khánh (8Torun) advanced to the finals of the Vietnam Middle School Debating Championship (VMDC), earning the Runner-up title. They also ranked among the Top 4 best speakers in the Junior category and the Top 9 best speakers in the Open category, respectively.

Facing strong competitors from schools such as Nguyễn Siêu, Concordia, BVIS, and Dwight, Dewey students confidently demonstrated their composure and impressive debating skills.
Across five rigorous rounds, Như Khôi demonstrated sharp analytical thinking and a well-rounded understanding of social issues, tackling topics ranging from economics and technology to educational investment. With motions released just 30 minutes prior to each round, the competition demanded exceptional adaptability and rapid argument structuring. Drawing on extensive experience from previous debating arenas, Như Khôi rose to the challenge, turning it into yet another opportunity to affirm consistent performance and strong competitive spirit.
Equally impressive, Dewey’s primary school debaters made their mark at the Vietnamese Scholars Debating Championship (VSDC). Hương Thảo, Nhật Linh, and Thái Sơn (3Almaty)—earned 2 Silver Medal, 1 Bronze Medal with an outstanding performance across three rounds. Despite their young age, they impressed the judges with clear, logical arguments on topics related to artificial intelligence and social media.

For Hương Thảo, this was her first time participating in a large-scale debating competition, yet she approached it with confidence. She shared that her experience presenting projects at Dewey, along with her habit of reading and staying informed about current affairs, had built a strong foundation of knowledge and critical thinking—enabling her to perform effectively in such a competitive environment.
Congratulations to all Dewey debaters for continuing to shine and uphold the school’s spirit at major academic competitions. May these achievements and experiences inspire them to further nurture their passion and confidently pursue even greater challenges in the future.
