What would it be like if the “service management” knowledge you once read in textbooks suddenly came to life in a real-world, internationally operated environment? Let Dewey Cau Giay students from Grades 9–11 answer that question after their recent corporate field trip last week.
During this journey, the stop at InterContinental Hanoi Westlake Hotel offered profound insights into the premium service industry, where sophistication is reflected in even the smallest customer touchpoints. In contrast, the production environment at Kyoei Vietnam Manufacturing Company operates on a foundation of discipline, precision, and strict compliance. Through these experiences, TDSers had the opportunity to realize that each industry speaks its own “language”: some require softness and empathy, while others demand systematic thinking and rigorous standards.
The core value of the journey does not lie in “where they went,” but in how students engage with what they observed. Direct discussions with industry professionals provided valuable insights. Career pressure, competition, skill requirements, and market shifts are no longer distant concepts but become real issues that students need to seriously consider even while still in school. Through this process, many preconceived notions about careers are gradually broken down, making way for more mature and multidimensional perspectives.
At Dewey, career exploration is part of a long-term, personalized guidance pathway starting as early as Grade 6. It is a deliberately designed process that enables students to continuously accumulate experiences, observe, and reflect. Each trip, each interaction, and each real-world exposure adds another piece of data, helping students understand what suits them best and how to prepare for future choices. This also forms the foundation for building focused learning plans, rather than making decisions based on emotions or trends.
