Every journey starts from zero, and at times, obstacles arise that make us want to give up. However, such challenges have never been a reason for the Dewey Tay Ho Tay football team to lose heart on the field. On the contrary, our young players always bring an unwavering fighting spirit, playing their hearts out for their teammates.
The 2023-2024 season marks a memorable milestone – the first year of the team’s establishment. Stepping onto the field for the first time in Dewey’s colors, our players carried excitement and determination, but that alone was not enough. Crushing defeats, matches forfeited due to a lack of players, and moments of wavering morale tested the team’s resilience.
Yet, with each tournament, embracing the spirit of “Victory without arrogance, defeat without discouragement,” the Dewey football team has created remarkable achievements. Facing formidable opponents, in October 2024, the U15 team proudly secured the Bronze Medal at the Hanoi Youth Premier League – an unexpected triumph against a team that had been the previous season’s champion. But the journey did not stop there. In the 2024 SSA (Sport Skill Academy) Cup, the Elementary School team delivered an outstanding performance, claiming victory to become the tournament champions. This historic win brought home the first-ever Gold Medal for the Dewey football team.
Having accompanied his child through numerous tournaments, Mr. Tuan Anh, a Dewey parent, shared his thoughts: “Beyond skill, which is essential on the field, I believe that spirit and responsibility are equally important in every match. I have witnessed significant improvements in technical quality, team cohesion, and the players’ willingness to take on strong opponents without fear of failure. This is exactly what I had hoped for when my child joined Dewey’s sports teams.”
Quang Anh (12Detroit), captain of the U18 football team, also reflected on the team’s progress: “I have seen the dedication and effort of every team member. Some players have shown remarkable improvement over the past three months of training together. Minh Duc and Thanh An, for example, were once reserve players who trained tirelessly and have now earned spots in the starting lineup. The team is not only stronger in terms of technical skills but has also grown in discipline, unity, and belief in one another. This collective spirit has transformed us into a completely different team.”
Under the guidance of their coaches, the young players not only develop tactical thinking but also learn to play as a team. When one player falls, the entire team rises together. When a match ends—win or lose—they reflect, learn from their experiences, and move forward as one.
Mr. Duy Anh, head coach of the Middle & High School football team, shared an inspiring message with his players: “If your jersey is still clean, it means you haven’t played hard enough! Whether in football or in life, the most important thing is to never give up and to learn from every challenge. You have all done an incredible job, and regardless of the results, always take pride in what you have given to the game. Keep your passion and determination alive, because football is not just about winning – it’s about growth, resilience, and surpassing your own limits.”
