Under the blazing early summer sun, after their first class of the day, 4Napier TDSers found the perfect way to cool off—with an exciting survival swimming session at Aqua-Tots Swimming School, Tay Ho Tay campus.

As soon as they arrived at the pool, students were divided into small groups—just four students per instructor. Thanks to this ideal student-to-teacher ratio, every TDSer received close attention and personalized guidance tailored to their skill level and needs. Excitement was in the air as students eagerly dove into their first water skills: getting comfortable in the water, breath control, back floating, and safe entry and exit techniques.

“Survival swimming is an essential skill—especially as summer approaches and students head off on vacations or spend more time around water,” shared Mr. Ngoc Anh, Technical Manager at Aqua-Tots Tay Ho Tay. “By equipping children with these survival skills, we help them know how to respond to different situations and keep themselves safe. No matter the scenario, the most important thing is that they know how to bring themselves to safety.”

Unlike traditional swimming, survival swimming focuses on developing reflexes, water independence, and the ability to act safely even when no adult is present. It’s more than just a class—it’s a protective shield for children in unexpected situations. After each lesson, beyond relaxing and having fun, students leave the pool more confident, resilient, and ready for an active, safe summer ahead!

“My favorite part was learning to float and playing underwater challenges with my friends. I’m not scared of water anymore!” shared an excited TDSer, Khanh Quynh from class 4Napier.

The Aqua-Tots program, imported from the US, includes 8 structured levels designed to equip students with survival skills to keep themselves safe in and around water. It’s implemented across TDS from Preschool to Grade 8 with three core goals: raising health awareness and discipline in training, developing physical and mental well-being, and promoting positive behavior in all activities.
