Have you ever read a piece of writing and wondered how the author could create such emotionally rich words? Crafting a truly “touching” piece is not just about following a formula—it’s a process of observing, feeling, understanding, and transforming those experiences into language. This very journey helped Vũ Kim Khánh Ngọc, a 12th-grade Washington DC student, successfully earn 4.7 billion VND in scholarships from six prestigious universities both in Vietnam and abroad, majoring in Marketing.

Khánh Ngọc’s academic journey has never been confined to the classroom; instead, it has been expanded through real-world projects. She discovered her love for writing early on, and Dewey helped her turn that interest into a true passion by offering opportunities to take on suitable roles such as Head of Content for the Student Council (DSC) and Head of Communications for the Dewey Model United Nations Conference (DMUN).
Even in formal academic activities, Ngọc has been able to live out her passion through scriptwriting and role-playing in interdisciplinary Literature and Vietnamese projects. In particular, Humanities classes and Social Science projects that explore life and human experiences have given her a deep and multidimensional perspective on the world around her. From there, she developed systematic thinking and sensitivity to social relationships—essential foundations for a career in Communications and Marketing.

Her “professional flame” has been further nurtured through volunteer trips supporting hearing-impaired children and fundraising campaigns for residents of Cát Bà Island after Typhoon Yagi. Through these experiences, Khánh Ngọc realized that for a message to truly resonate, the writer must first have a compassionate and empathetic heart. A writer cannot stand outside the story—they must step in, observe, listen, and feel deeply to truly understand.
These experiences were incorporated into her personal research report on Communications in educational environments. This also became one of the key highlights that helped her gain admission to six prestigious universities, including Victoria University of Wellington (New Zealand), University of Regina (Canada), and VinUniversity, with a total scholarship value of 4.7 billion VND.

Khánh Ngọc realized that her journey is not made up of isolated moments, but rather a continuous accumulation of purposeful experiences at The Dewey Schools. From academic projects and extracurricular activities to opportunities to organize events and work in communications professionally, all of these became “authentic materials” that helped her build a distinct personal identity—allowing her to stand out among thousands of high-achieving applicants with excellent GPAs from around the world.
