International Day at Dewey Ocean Park truly became a vibrant cultural celebration, where eight countries—South Korea, Thailand, Japan, South Africa, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, and Ireland—brought their unique cultural identities to life. Each country contributed to a rich, shared tapestry, featuring majestic landscapes, legendary historical sites, and exquisite cultural and culinary traditions.
Over the course of nearly two weeks of preparation for the event, TDSers from elementary to high school not only had the opportunity to explore and research the country their class represented, but also to creatively design unique posters that expressed their understanding and love for the culture. The students took pride in becoming “global citizens,” sharing fascinating stories about distant lands with their families, friends, and teachers. This not only helped others explore but also deepened their understanding of the rich diversity of civilizations around the world.
The highlight of International Day was the seamless blend of music, art, and joy. Over 10 interactive workshop booths transformed the event space into a unique cultural feast, where every activity offered an opportunity for TDSers and their families to immerse themselves in the cultural beauty of each nation. The sound of laughter, bright smiles, and creative art pieces filled the air, creating a dynamic, joyful, and meaningful atmosphere.
Present at the event, a parent from the 1Singapore class shared: “Today’s event offered so many creative activities, from mask-making and Japanese origami to beading for bracelets. These activities sparked the children’s creativity and their passion for exploration. Not only did they experience the unique cultures of the countries represented, but it also enriched their understanding and love for cultural diversity. I truly feel that the Dewey community is one that is multicultural and full of love and care.”
International Day Dewey 2025 has become an unforgettable, meaningful event, overflowing with the colors of unity and creativity, and imbued with love and respect among all members of the Dewey community.
