“Spring comes, Tet arrives, families reunite,
Returning home to share New Year wishes with dear children.
[…]
May the New Year wash away all sorrow,
May every home be filled with happiness and peace as spring returns.”
These innocent verses have echoed joyfully through every classroom at The Dewey Schools. For our Grade 3 students, Tet is not only about golden apricot blossoms, pink peach flowers, red lucky envelopes, or the graceful áo dài — it is also about emotions lovingly expressed through simple lines of poetry.

Each poem opens a charming little world of childhood:
Some students write about the fragrant smell of bánh chưng simmering in the kitchen.
Some share stories of receiving lucky money.
Others simply wish for a New Year filled with their family’s laughter.
Their words are simple and pure, yet brimming with joy and excitement.
At Dewey, Tet is both a time of reunion and a journey of nurturing love for Vietnamese cultural heritage. Tet lives not only in classroom decorations but also in the beautiful memories reflected in every TDSers’ eyes and smiles. Our students learn to confidently integrate into the world while cherishing the traditions, symbols, and spirit of togetherness that define Vietnamese Tet.
Lunar New Year’s Eve is just around the corner—how is the Tet atmosphere in your home? Share your beautiful Tet moments in the comments with Dewey!
