Officially launched on March 1, 2025, the second English-Vietnamese Poetry Translation Contest – “Endless Poetry” has quickly attracted over 1,000 entries from talented young poets. With creativity, rich language, and unique styles, this promises to be a thrilling and captivating competition.

Selecting the best translations is undoubtedly a “challenging” task. Who will be the ones to “weigh the scales” and make the most impartial evaluations? Let’s meet the judging panel for “Endless Poetry”!

1. Translator Tran Nguyen

Full Name: Tran Canh Duong

Education:

  • Master’s in Asian Studies, Ohio University (USA)
  • Master’s in International Tourism Management, Sorbonne University (France)

Notable Achievements:

  • Extensive experience in the translation industry, having adapted over 30 famous literary works such as Paradise Lost, The Diary of a Stupid Girl, Tokyo Underground, The Yellow Mask
  • Collaborated with renowned publishers in Vietnam, including Nhã Nam, Kim Đồng, Tri Thức, OmegaPlus… helping to bring international literature closer to Vietnamese readers.
  • Over 15 years of experience working with multinational corporations (Agoda, Accenture, Wise…) in Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, France… possessing a deep understanding of the languages and cultures of many countries worldwide.

2. Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Trinh – Executive Director of ERPC, Head of Social Sciences and Humanities Department for Secondary and High School at The Dewey Schools.

Education:

  • Outstanding student in Asian Studies, Ohio University (USA).
  • Graduated with honors from the Advanced Training Program, Hanoi University of Education.

Notable Achievements:

  • Directly involved in translating and compiling curricula and internal documents for training and teaching purposes at The Dewey Schools.
  • This is her second year accompanying “Endless Poetry,” where she continues to provide expert assessments, contributing to identifying the most promising translators.

3. Ms. Nguyen Van Anh – Vietnamese Language and Literature Teacher, Social Sciences and Humanities Specialist for Secondary and High School at The Dewey Schools.

Education:

  • Master’s in Education, University of Huddersfield (UK).
  • Graduated with honors from the Advanced Training Program, Hanoi University of Education.

  • A familiar face to Dewey’s secondary school students, she not only has a solid academic background but also inspires students with her passion for literature.
  • With her love for language and experience teaching Vietnamese language and literature, she is capable of evaluating translations based on their linguistic accuracy and the ability to convey the original spirit.
  • Having accompanied the contest since its first season, she continues to enhance the competition’s quality, encouraging students to explore the beauty of language through each translation.
