April arrives as a reminder that the final exams of the school year are just around the corner. At Dewey Ocean Park, April is celebrated as the month of “Lifelong Learning” – a message not only for students but also a quality embodied by teachers, who are constantly learning to become better educators every day.
Among the dedicated teachers at Dewey Ocean Park, Ms. Hồ Bách Diệp – Head of the Primary English Department – stands out as a shining example of this spirit. With eight years of experience in education, Ms. Bách Diệp remains passionate and committed to her profession, always striving to learn and grow, both in her work and in life.
In her free time, Ms. Bách Diệp enjoys taking short courses to enrich her life experiences—whether it’s baking, painting, or exploring music. She shares honestly, “I’m afraid of becoming outdated. If I teach out of habit, my students might miss out on many wonderful things in life. That’s why I always try to learn something new whenever I can. Learning isn’t just about becoming an expert—it’s about having more interesting experiences to share with my students. For example, when learning about colors, I can tell them stories behind each shade. When studying music, I can show them that English isn’t just vocabulary—it’s also about emotion, rhythm, and the vibrant world around them.”
Ms. Bách Diệp’s commitment to lifelong learning not only helps her grow personally but also builds a strong connection with her primary students. Her classes are always full of energy, positivity, and the joy of learning.
“I love having class with Ms. Diệp because she plays music and dances with us at the beginning! We all dance and laugh together—it’s so much fun, and learning becomes fun too! She also shows us English videos with characters from different countries, so I’ve realized English isn’t hard at all—it’s really interesting! Her lessons are always fun, so it’s easy for us to remember what we learn. This week we learned the letter W, and I immediately remembered ‘window’!”— Nguyễn Minh Trang and Nguyễn Bảo Chi (Grade 1, Manila class) share joyfully about their teacher.
To her colleagues, Ms. Diệp is someone who’s always open to listening, sharing, and learning – even from the smallest things. She’s never afraid to try new methods and often collaborates with others to enhance the student learning experience. She believes that a teacher must never stop learning if they want to inspire students to keep exploring and discovering.
Ms. Bách Diệp’s passion for learning is how she lights the flame of curiosity, love of knowledge, and a lifelong learning mindset in her students. These values will be a meaningful part of their journey, giving them the confidence to step into the wider world with curiosity, determination, and a drive to always keep growing.
