Are “core values” just slogans on paper?

At Dewey, they’re lived out every single day—in the quiet choices and everyday actions of our students.

Five boys. Five unique stories. Yet each is writing the first chapter of a meaningful journey shaped by Integrity, Passion, Generosity, and a love for Lifelong Learning.

Whether it’s a child quietly helping his teacher tidy up the classroom, or one who kept practicing for the D-Show even while hospitalized—these seemingly small moments embody the very essence of Dewey’s core values.

It’s not the extraordinary that inspires, but the steady, sincere efforts made day by day. These are the stories of our students who are building something beautiful—with heart, resilience, and purpose.

Each story marks a step forward—small but significant—in a journey of growth, in a way that’s uniquely their own. We invite parents to check out the photos below and discover these powerful stories.

“Lâm Khoa’s school year has been defined by relentless effort and a remarkable spirit of learning. As a graduating fifth grader, he consistently maintained strong academic performance and kept setting goals for himself.

Right before the D-Show competition, he came down with a severe case of chickenpox and had to be hospitalized for nearly a month. But even then, Khoa stayed remarkably focused on his studies. He kept practicing from his hospital bed and continuing as soon as he recovered.

Thanks to his unwavering determination, he rejoined his team in time to win the campus-level round—and went on to shine in the final competition. A beautiful journey marked by Integrity and Passion.” — Ms. Nguyễn Thị Huyền, Homeroom Teacher, 5Tunis, Dewey Hai Phong shared.

#Generosity

“Anh Quân leads with quiet strength and a generous heart. Whether it’s class routines or big events, he always steps up with dedication.

As the line coordinator, he guides classmates with calm leadership and diligently records daily updates. When it’s time to clean, he reminds everyone to tidy their desks and even stays behind to help the teacher tidy the room. For the D-Show, he eagerly took on the role of drummer for the performance ‘Walking Under a Brilliant Sky’, helping his band deliver a radiant performance.

He may be small in stature, but his heart is immense—living out Generosity in the most genuine ways every day.” — Ms. Bùi Huyền Trang, Homeroom Teacher, 5CapeTown, Dewey Cau Giay shared.

“Thái Bình joined school nearly two months late, starting behind his classmates—but moved forward at his own steady pace.

At first, he struggled to keep up. His writing was slow, and his results didn’t reflect his true abilities. At times, it seemed impossible to catch up. But he never gave up.

With guidance and encouragement, he began taking ownership of his learning, improving steadily each day. By the second semester, his progress was undeniable.

Now, he approaches every lesson with focus and enthusiasm—proof that with the right support, every child can thrive.
He may not be the fastest, but he’s growing into the best version of himself.
And that’s the heart of Lifelong Learning.”
Ms. Vũ Nguyễn Quỳnh Hương, Homeroom Teacher, 2Osaka, Dewey Ocean Park shared.

#Passion

“Bảo Minh—a real-life Little Prince with a deep love for football and one heartfelt wish: to play with friends.

Connecting with friends hasn’t always come easy for him. Sometimes, even having one close friend felt like a distant dream.

At the Dewey Sports Tournament, he stood quietly as a substitute goalkeeper. But once on the field, he gave it his all—with full focus, deep responsibility, and a heart committed to the team.

Through football, he’s finding more than a sport—he’s finding teammates, laughter, and the budding roots of friendship. That’s the power of Passion.” — Mr. Vũ Đức Anh, Homeroom Teacher, 7Lucca, Dewey Tay Ho Tay shared.

“From needing constant reminders to discovering the joy of learning—Anh Minh’s first-grade journey has been one of quiet growth. At the start of the year, he struggled with self-discipline. It often took reminders for him to complete his work. His parents, often away on business, hoped he would become more independent in his learning—but that’s a big ask for a six-year-old.

Gradually, with his teachers’ support, something shifted. He began completing his homework without a word from anyone. He even shared what he’d learned with genuine excitement. The joy of learning didn’t come from pressure—it came from within, when he chose it for himself. He doesn’t study because he has to—he does it because he wants to.

Now, as the school year ends, we see a boy transformed: more self-aware, more curious, and more eager to grow every day.” — Ms. Nguyễn Thị Thùy Dung, Homeroom Teacher, 1Hanoi, Dewey Ocean Park shared.
