In celebration of the 165th birthday of John Dewey, the great educational reformer, TDSers have launched a special series of learning projects called the “John Dewey Academic Exhibition.” This is an opportunity for students to showcase their research skills, present their learning projects, honor John Dewey’s philosophy of “experiential learning,” and affirm their proactive and creative learning spirit.
Throughout the week, the atmosphere in Dewey classrooms has been more vibrant than ever. Parents had the chance to visit the classrooms and directly witness their children’s plays, presentations, and unique MDE ideas. All of these activities vividly reflected TDSers’ design thinking, critical thinking, collaboration skills, and passion for exploration. Each product brought its own unique color, serving as a testament to the students’ passionate and enthusiastic learning journey.
TDSers had the freedom to choose their favorite content and forms of expression across subjects such as Humanities, English, MDE, and more. Each student eagerly and confidently presented before their parents. The positive energy and unique ideas of the TDSers provided an exciting experience for the parents. Ms. Tran Thi Quynh Trang, a parent of a 3Mumbai student, shared: “I was truly moved and proud to see my child’s clear progress and growth in English. The children presented fluently and confidently in front of a crowd, showed genuine enthusiasm for the subject, and collaborated harmoniously with their peers. I am very grateful to the teachers at Dewey for their dedication to the children and for organizing such meaningful projects, helping us recognize and appreciate the efforts our children make each day.”
The John Dewey Academic Exhibition is not only an event to celebrate the academic achievements of TDSers, but it also serves as a bridge between parents and the school in The Dewey Schools’ educational journey. Parents become companions, actively participating and experiencing the journey with their children, witnessing their growth through each project and learning milestone. This helps to build a stronger and deeper connection between families and the school, working together to support the holistic development of the students.
Although the week of the John Dewey Academic Exhibition has come to an end, the spirit of proactive, creative learning and the students’ passion for knowledge continue to resonate. The John Dewey Academic Exhibition successfully spread John Dewey’s pioneering educational philosophy, laying a solid foundation for TDSers to further develop their learning and exploratory spirit in the future.
