“Proud of our homeland, Vietnam
Heroes defeating the greed of invaders
Countless shed their blood in battle
Sacrificing for the autumn of peace.”
(Excerpt from a poem by Đinh Thiện Nhân – Grade 5 Karan)
During academic presentations, many parents are often surprised by Dewey students’ ability to compose poetry, appreciate literature, and demonstrate both historical knowledge and love for their country. This proves that pursuing a bilingual international education does not mean “losing cultural roots” or “blindly following foreign trends,” as long as children grow up in an environment that harmonizes global integration with the preservation of national identity.

Choose Dewey—where students integrate without losing their uniqueness in an international environment!
At The Dewey Schools, we emphasize balance: providing students with an advanced international curriculum while embedding Vietnamese cultural, historical, and traditional values across academic subjects, extracurricular activities, and real-world experiences.
Interdisciplinary learning projects: Students apply knowledge from multiple subjects to create artistic works that reflect patriotism and national pride. A highlight is the English Drama Project on Đinh Bộ Lĩnh – an integration of Literature, History, Geography, Music, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Humanities, IT, and MDE. Through this project, TDSers not only bring Vietnamese history closer to the international community but also showcase creativity and innovation in learning, especially in History – a subject often considered “dry.”

Experiential learning: Through field trips to landmarks, heritage sites, and cultural-historical museums, students directly observe, explore, and deepen their understanding of Vietnam’s history, arts, and culture. Dewey also maintains monthly flag-raising ceremonies – a solemn ritual at the start of each week that instills patriotism, national pride, and love for the homeland in every student.

Cultural connection activities: Students are encouraged to express their love for Vietnam through poetry, art, and other creative works on important national occasions such as National Day (September 2) or Reunification Day (April 30). The school also integrates Vietnamese traditions into Dewey’s festivals, including Chợ Tết and International Day. These events give students the chance to both celebrate and explore global cultures while sharing the beauty of Vietnamese traditions with international friends.

Integrated curriculum: Dewey’s academic framework is transferred from Mount Vernon School – one of the Top 10 most innovative schools in the United States – and accredited by Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training. This curriculum not only opens doors for TDSers to prestigious universities in the U.S., Australia, South Korea, and beyond, but also equips them with the solid foundation to gain admission to leading public universities in Vietnam, such as Foreign Trade University, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, and Academy of Journalism and Communication.
With strong global competencies and a profound appreciation for Vietnamese culture and history, Dewey students are well-prepared to become true global citizens – stepping confidently into the world with knowledge, skills, courage, and pride in their national identity.
