For those who attended the D-Show 25 Grand Finals at Dewey Ocean Park, the performance “Bao loi con chua noi” by the Grade 10 Alliance surely left a lasting impression. As mothers took the stage, embracing their children with pride and deep emotion, many in the audience couldn’t hold back their own tears. And in that heartfelt moment, one of the four student directors behind the performance, Vi Tam Nhi (10Salvador), was perhaps the most moved of all.
A Tribute to motherly love is inspiration for a powerful stage moment
Unlike many of her peers, Tam Nhi lives far from her mother, making it difficult for her to express her thoughts and emotions directly. Inspired by the D-Show 25 theme, “The Future Me,” she and her fellow Grade 10 TDSers brought to life the story of a child longing for understanding and support from their mother, while also dreaming of the freedom to pursue their chosen path. The song “Bao loi con chua noi” was performed with deep emotion, serving as a heartfelt message from Tam Nhi and her friends to their mothers.
The tears shed on stage spoke volumes – expressing the emotions left unsaid during their time apart, the aspirations of a daughter, and a mother’s silent yet unwavering support. D-Show became the platform where Tam Nhi dared to dream, to act, and to express herself. It was this courage that strengthened the bond between mother and child, fostering a deeper understanding and love.
“The greater the challenge, the more I want to test my limits”
For Tam Nhi, D-Show 25 was an emotional journey, marking a significant milestone in her personal growth as she took on the new and challenging role of leading a team. Managing and motivating a large group of performers was no small task, especially with a tight rehearsal schedule. She shared: “We only had five days to prepare for the Grand Finals. At times, some of my teammates weren’t fully focused, which made me really anxious. What if we couldn’t keep up with the rehearsal schedule? What if our performance wasn’t impressive enough? But every time those worries crept in, I reminded myself: “The greater the challenge, the more I want to test my limits.” And so, I turned on the music, refocused, and led my team through each practice session.”
As the final rehearsals approached, a wave of doubt hit her. “My confidence dropped from 100% to 60% after watching the other performances. They were all so well-prepared, with incredible storytelling and visuals.” However, instead of letting these fears affect herself or her team, Tam Nhi chose to stay optimistic and committed. Late-night rehearsals, packed weekend schedules, and relentless attention to detail – all were dedicated to perfecting their performance and ensuring it resonated deeply with the audience.
The Championship Title – A well-deserved reward for unwavering dedication
The moment the D-Show 25 Grand Finale announced the champion, Tam Nhi and her team were overwhelmed with joy and pride. Every late night spent rehearsing, every ounce of effort poured into perfecting their performance, and every moment of nervous preparation had finally been recognized. Their victory was the “sweet fruit” of a journey marked by relentless determination and unyielding dreams.
