After the challenging MAP test round, top candidates from The Dewey Schools and prestigious high schools in Hanoi, such as Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Luong The Vinh, and Nguyen Sieu, have advanced to the interview round of the Pre-International Baccalaureate (Pre-IB) Scholarship Program. This marks the final challenge in their pursuit of this prestigious scholarship.
“The school aims to identify talented students with exceptional English proficiency, a compassionate heart, and a strong sense of social awareness. We seek individuals who are ready to take action and create a positive impact on their communities. Students will experience a learner-centered educational environment where they are empowered to take ownership of their learning and research through hands-on projects and the application of IB teaching and learning methods,” shared Mr. Nguyen Bao Trong, Director of the IB Program at The Dewey Schools.
Despite being one of the youngest candidates this year, Phan Nhat Anh (Grade 5, Alpha School) displayed remarkable confidence during the interview. “The judges’ questions were not too difficult; they mainly aimed to help candidates express their individuality, assess their understanding of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, and evaluate their ability to connect and collaborate through extracurricular activities and community projects. I prepared my own portfolio showcasing past projects, such as a fundraising campaign to support Northern Vietnamese communities after the historic Typhoon Yagi, as well as various cultural exploration and outreach initiatives to promote Vietnamese heritage.”
Do Duc Tri (Grade 8, Newton Grammar School) was quite satisfied with his performance in the interview round. He reflected: “The interview was less intense compared to the MAP test, which required a high level of concentration and strong academic foundations. The judges were very friendly and open, making me feel comfortable when answering their questions. I particularly appreciate the experiential learning model at The Dewey Schools. I aspire to become a biologist, and I believe the IB program at Dewey will help me achieve my dream.”
The IB program at The Dewey Schools has not only captured the interest of students but has also received positive feedback from Parent. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Vinh, parent of a 5Tunis student, expressed his confidence in the school’s educational approach: “My child has been studying at Dewey from Grade 1 to Grade 5. I have seen remarkable growth in his independence, especially in critical thinking and creativity, through academic and community projects. The school’s four core values – Generosity, Integrity, Passion, and Lifelong Learning – align closely with the ten attributes of an IB learner. I believe this foundation will give my child the confidence to thrive in a global environment.”
Once again, we sincerely appreciate the trust and support of our valued parents. Congratulations to all candidates who have successfully passed the rounds of the Pre-International Baccalaureate (Pre-IB) Scholarship Program. Stay tuned for the upcoming scholarship results!
