Visiting Dewey Club Fair last week, TDSers were surely left with vivid impressions of a dynamic space infused with the “spirit” of the ocean. Featuring ocean-blue as the dominant color, the “Under the Sea” theme—inspired by Dewey’s dolphin mascot—opened up an imaginative “ocean” where students were free to explore their favorite clubs, express their individuality, share personal values, and connect with like-minded peers.

At the Gymnasium, the atmosphere buzzed with energy from nearly 20 experiential booths representing clubs in Visual Arts, Handmade, Connection, Dare-to-Do, and more. Highlights included exciting matches by the Chess Club and Basketball Club, drawing enthusiastic cheers and keeping the crowd energized throughout the event. Meanwhile, the Theater Hall offered a more reflective, artistic space, where clubs such as Drama and Modern Dance guided audiences through creative performances. Here, emotions became the language through which each group expressed its spirit and direction, leaving behind distinctive impressions.

Behind these vibrant, student-driven activities stood the Dewey Student Council (DSC). From ideation and planning to task delegation and event operations, every stage was led by the students themselves. Taking responsibility for their own decisions allowed them to demonstrate leadership, collaboration, and the courage to step outside their comfort zones.
Hoang Lan (12Denver) shared: “Having accompanied Club Fair for three years, it wasn’t until this year—when I took on a leadership role and worked closely with younger students to bring ideas to life—that I truly understood growth doesn’t come from titles, but from responsibility. Watching them become more confident and proactive through each experience also helped me recognize my own growth with every Club Fair season.”

This year’s event was made even more special with the participation of students from Dewey Cau Giay. As observers and participants at Club Fair, they had the opportunity to learn about event organization and operations, gaining valuable experience for their upcoming Club Fair at Dewey Cau Giay.

As one of Dewey’s signature annual events, Club Fair exemplifies how students are empowered to take ownership of their learning experiences. Dewey continuously fosters a dynamic and open school environment that encourages students to confidently explore new challenges, take initiative, develop leadership skills, and assert their personal identity. Through hands-on engagement with more than 40 clubs across diverse fields, students gradually identify their strengths and discover their passions, laying a strong foundation for future academic and career pathways. Each accumulated experience also contributes to shaping a distinctive, authentic personal narrative in university applications, enabling students to move forward with confidence and ownership of their journey.
