Surpassing more than 800 registered entries, Nguyễn Khánh An (11Denton) and her team earned the Special Prize at the 21st National Youth Creativity Contest 2025*. With their project, “An AI Assistant for Exploring Textbook Content Through the Lens of Curiosity,” the team demonstrated forward-thinking innovation in applying artificial intelligence to education, helping students access knowledge proactively and strengthening their self-learning skills.
Sharing the inspiration behind the idea, Khánh An explained that since lower secondary school, she had realized that passively absorbing textbook content often leads to boredom. From the question, “How can we turn dry material into an exciting journey of discovery?” her team developed the “AI Copilot Assistant”—a system integrating large language models such as GPT-4 and Google Gemini, capable of restructuring textbook content into open-ended questions, real-world scenarios, and exploratory tasks.

The breakthrough of the “AI Copilot Assistant” lies not only in combining the strengths of two leading AI platforms but also in its design philosophy, which places curiosity at the center. Based on the user’s interests, personality, and learning goals, the system automatically generates personalized study pathways and materials tailored to different needs—from exam preparation to research or knowledge expansion. The team also developed a classification system comprising 12 types of curiosity—such as “exploratory curiosity,” “scientific curiosity,” and “career-oriented curiosity”—to inspire learning through diverse approaches.
Khánh An and her teammates expressed their desire to scale the project nationwide, especially to support students in areas with limited educational resources, helping ensure more equitable access to knowledge for learners across the country.
Self-directed learning, creative thinking, and the ability to apply technology to community-focused solutions are qualities that Dewey consistently strives to cultivate in its students, especially in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape. Khánh An’s achievement is not only a source of pride for the school but also a powerful testament to the Dewey digital citizen: one who uses technology intelligently, responsibly, and for the good of the community.
