With the hope of bringing a loving, fulfilling Mid-Autumn Festival to underprivileged children and easing their pain and illnesses, the Dewey Tây Hồ Tây Community Fund successfully organized the “Mid-Autumn for Children” program at the Pediatrics Department – National Hospital of Traditional Medicine; the “Superhero Class” under the Vietnam Cerebral Palsy Family Association (CPFAV); and the School for the Nurture and Education of Children with Disabilities in Sóc Sơn.

Nearly 200 gifts were delivered directly to the children. Each present and handwritten letter carried the love, compassion, and heartfelt dedication of Dewey students and members of the Dewey Tây Hồ Tây Community Fund. Over nearly three weeks, students prepared performances, donated stuffed animals, made lanterns, and recorded videos in sign language to send their warm wishes to the children.

Ms. Lê Thúy Ngà – Party Cell Secretary and Principal of the School for the Nurture and Education of Children with Disabilities in Sóc Sơn – shared, “Normally, other schools are filled with children’s chatter and laughter. But here, we can only ‘hear’ the children through their eyes, hand gestures, or incomplete words. Today, hearing lively singing, laughter, and voices across the schoolyard truly moved me. I could see the joy and happiness in our students’ eyes as they connected, talked, and received early Mid-Autumn gifts from the visiting brothers and sisters.”

Among the many moving moments of the “Mid-Autumn for Children” journey, the image of Thái – a 12Denver student – putting his arm around Khang, a 19-year-old young man with cerebral palsy, singing together at the “Superhero Class” deeply touched teachers and everyone present. Thái can sing, play instruments, travel, and dreams of studying abroad. Khang, though unable to walk or speak like his peers, persists in learning English and strives daily to integrate. That encounter made Thái realize how much more fortunate he is compared to many lives out there.

Thái’s story reflects the shared feelings of many Dewey students who joined this volunteer activity. After the trip, what they gained was not only teamwork and a sense of community responsibility, but also profound lessons about love, compassion, and gratitude for what they have.

The Dewey Tây Hồ Tây Community Fund would like to express heartfelt thanks to the teachers and students who enthusiastically contributed to the program. We are also grateful to the parents and benefactors who supported us in building the fund for this initiative. It is these precious contributions that became the driving force behind the success of “Mid-Autumn for Children” and many other projects. Every act of sharing today is an invaluable encouragement, empowering the children to overcome hardship, nurture their dreams, and grow with confidence in life.
