The International Academic Program is a “golden ticket” to help students conquer top universities worldwide. To provide parents with comprehensive information about the Adventure International Program and the Atlanta Summer Camp, The Dewey Schools (TDS) organized a special seminar: “Parent Questions – Mount Vernon Answers.” The seminar featured educational experts from the partner school Mount Vernon (MVS – USA), ranked among the Top 10 innovative schools in the United States.
During the seminar, Mr. Jared Colley, Head of Learning & Innovation for Upper Campus at Mount Vernon, emphasized the importance of the international partnership between the two schools in promoting high-quality teaching and learning at The Dewey Schools, creating the most comprehensive learning environment for students. “I am very pleased and proud that Dewey and Mount Vernon have been effectively collaborating, aligning on practices and teaching methods, and laying a solid foundation for the development of a strong relationship between the two schools,” he expressed.
One of the key highlights of the seminar was the insights shared by Mr. David Drouin, Head of English Programs for Middle and High School, and Ms. To Thuong, Deputy Head of English Programs for Middle and High School, regarding the Adventure International Program. This program, transferred from Mount Vernon, offers Dewey students significant advantages in international integration and academic advancement.
The Adventure International Program not only equips students with a strong academic foundation but also focuses on developing their critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity skills. By participating in the program, students have the opportunity to study abroad in 12th grade at Mount Vernon (Atlanta, GA) or attend online classes at Dewey. Upon completing Mount Vernon’s curriculum, students will receive dual high school diplomas from both the U.S. and Vietnam, opening doors to prestigious universities worldwide.
Parents and students attending the seminar also heard from four TDSers currently studying at Mount Vernon. Le Khoi Nguyen shared, “At Mount Vernon, we receive enthusiastic support from our teachers, both academically and in extracurricular activities. We not only gain knowledge but also develop confidence, communication skills, and time management abilities. The Adventure Program has made me much bolder and more proactive.”
All four students agreed that their time at Mount Vernon has brought about positive changes in their mindset and learning methods. They also noted that integrating into an international environment has not only improved their language skills but also fostered a spirit of independence, preparing them for new challenges ahead.
During the seminar, Ms. Trish Bogdanchik, Head of Mount Vernon School (MVS) and MVSO, provided valuable insights into the U.S. Summer Camp in Atlanta, a special program designed for students from grades 8 to 12. The summer camp not only offers students the chance to experience American life and culture but also helps them improve their English communication skills and expand their international network of friends. Highlights of the camp include visits to famous landmarks in Atlanta, prestigious universities, and participation in academic workshops on Design Thinking, arts, engineering, and science, giving students clear direction for their future educational paths.
The “Parent Questions – Mount Vernon Answers” seminar addressed parents’ inquiries about the two international study programs at Dewey. Through the strong partnership between The Dewey Schools and Mount Vernon, Dewey students are not only equipped with knowledge but also provided with opportunities for holistic development, preparing them to conquer challenges on their global educational journey.
