On September 16th, The Dewey Schools welcomed a delegation from Mount Vernon School (MVS), ranked among the Top 10 Most Innovative Schools in the United States in 2017. This significant event reinforced the strong international educational partnership between The Dewey Schools and MVS, a strategic partner in enhancing teaching quality and providing world-class learning experiences for Dewey students.
In recent years, The Dewey Schools have consistently made efforts to improve their academic programs by collaborating with leading experts from MVS to implement internationally standardized curricula. Notably, through the Adventure International and Journey International programs, students have the opportunity to earn an American High School Diploma from MVS, a globally recognized diploma.
Representing the delegation were Mr. Jared Colley – Head of Learning and Innovation for Upper Campus at Mount Vernon, and Mrs. Trish Bogdanchik – Head of Upper School and Mount Vernon School Online (MVSO). The delegation had a meeting with Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ha Thanh – Executive Director of The Dewey Schools Tay Ho Tay, along with other school leadership representatives. Both sides discussed and agreed upon the main objectives of the visit, including:
- Teacher Training and Professional Development for the Entire System: MVS experts will conduct in-depth workshops and training sessions on differentiated teaching methods, helping Dewey’s teachers improve their instructional effectiveness.
- Inspection and Supervision of Curriculum Quality: The MVS delegation will participate in classroom observations and conduct a comprehensive evaluation of original American courses such as Humanities, Visual Arts, and MDE Science and Invention, ensuring the curriculum meets international standards.
- Introduction of the Adventure Program and the 2024 American Summer Camp: MVS experts will host direct meetings with parents to provide consultations and answer questions regarding exchange programs and opportunities for students to attend summer camps in the U.S.
Updates on the working agenda between the leadership and professional teams of the two schools will be continuously posted on The Dewey Schools’ fan page in the coming time.
