ADMISSIONS REGULATION OF THE DEWEY SCHOOLS IN THE 2026–2027SCHOOL YEAR
Applicable to all students wishing to apply to The Dewey Schools.
A student studying in the 2025–2026 school year will be considered for promotion to the next grade within the same school level in the 2026–2027 school year, provided that the student completes the curriculum for the current class or semester and his/her parent fulfills all financial obligations in accordance with the Financial Policy and Fee Schedule for the 2025–2026 and 2026–2027 school years;
Students transferring to the next school level within the system (e.g., Grade 5 to Grade 6; Grade 9 to Grade 10, etc.) shall follow the Regulation for School Level Transfer Review;
Students wishing to transfer to another campus within the system will be considered if the receiving campus has available places in the relevant grade and there is an English class suitable for the student’s proficiency level;
Students currently enrolled in the Integrated Program (Explore, Discover) at Primary, Lower Secondary, or Upper Secondary levels who transfer to an International Program (Adventure, Journey, IB), or students currently enrolled in an International Program (Adventure, Journey) who transfer to the IB Program, must take and pass the required assessment(s) as stipulated
In the 2026–2027 school year, The Dewey Schools’ K–12 System admits students whose ages correspond to each school level as follows:
- Primary School: Students born 2016–2020.
- Lower Secondary School (THCS): Students born 2012–2015.
- Upper Secondary School (THPT): Students born 2009–2011.
Cases where a student’s age does not match the standard age for the relevant level/grade will be reviewed and admitted in accordance with the regulations stipulated in the Charter of Primary Schools and the Charter of Lower Secondary Schools, Upper Secondary Schools, and Multi-level General Education Schools.
The Dewey Schools’ K–12 System sets class size limits for Primary, Lower Secondary, and Upper Secondary levels as follows:
- Integrated Program – Explore: 32 students/class
- Integrated Program – Discover and International Programs (Adventure, Journey, IB): 24–26 students/class
1. New applicants registering for admission to The Dewey Schools’ K–12 System
- The student must not have infectious diseases and must not have dangerous congenital conditions.
- Applicants to Primary School (from Grade 2 onwards) must have completed the curriculum of the immediately preceding school year/semester in accordance with the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) regulations.
- Applicants to Lower Secondary School (THCS) must have completed the Primary School curriculum / the immediately preceding school year/semester in accordance with MOET regulations.
- Applicants to Upper Secondary School (THPT) must have completed the Lower Secondary School curriculum / the immediately preceding school year/semester in accordance with MOET regulations.
- Foreign students residing in Vietnam or Vietnamese students residing overseas will be considered on a case-by-case basis and must comply with the regulations of the local Department of Education and Training (MOET) in the province/city where the student applies.
2. Students who previously withdrew from The Dewey Schools and wish to re-enroll
The school will review the application dossier on a case-by-case basis.
1. Procedure for new applicants
- Step 1: Parents/guardians learn about The Dewey Schools
- Step 2: Submit the enrollment application by completing the admissions fee
- Step 3: The student participates in the entrance assessment as required by the school
- Step 4: Parents/guardians complete the enrollment dossier and financial obligations
Step 5: The student is officially enrolled
2. Procedure for students transitioning to the next school level
- Step 1: Register the intention for the student to continue studying at The Dewey Schools
- Step 2: The school assesses the student according to the level-transition evaluation process
- Step 3: Parents/guardians complete enrollment procedures if the student meets the eligibility requirements for promotion to the next level
- Step 4: The student is officially enrolled
All new students registering to study at The Dewey Schools (K–12) must pass the entrance assessment organized by the School. Each student may take the entrance assessment no more than two (02) times; the second attempt must be at least one (01) month after the first.
Students will take assessments in the following subjects/areas:
1. Integrated Program: Explore & Discover
- Grade 1: General competency assessment / direct interview; English.
- Primary, Lower Secondary (THCS), Upper Secondary (THPT): General competency assessment / direct interview; Mathematics; Literature/Vietnamese; English.
2. International Program: Adventure
- Lower Secondary (THCS): General competency assessment / direct interview; Vietnamese Mathematics (if the student is Vietnamese) / English Mathematics (if the student is a foreign student); Literature/Vietnamese; English.
- Upper Secondary (THPT) – Grade 9: General competency assessment / direct interview; English Mathematics; Literature/Vietnamese; English.
3. International Program: Journey
- Primary, Lower Secondary (THCS), Upper Secondary (THPT): General competency assessment / direct interview; English Mathematics; English.
4. IB Program
- MYP, DP: English; interview.
Admissions for entry-grade classes shall comply with the regulations of the Department of Education and Training MOET).
- Admissions for the beginning of the school year: from January to August annually; students officially start in August.
- Admissions for the beginning of Semester 2: from November to December annually; students officially start in January.
- For students wishing to enroll mid-year, the school will consider admission based on the school’s intake capacity and the regulations of the Department of Education and Training.
