Understanding Nutrition during the primary school stage is the ‘key’ to fostering the intellectual and physical development of every student. The Dewey Schools organized a nutrition seminar led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bùi Thị Nhung – Head of the School Nutrition Department and Profession at the National Institute of Nutrition, aimed at providing practical lessons on the importance of a healthy diet for TDSers in grades 1–5.
In the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thi Nhung delivered valuable and age-appropriate information for elementary school students. Through simple interactive games, students made a great impression with their confidence and intelligence by actively responding to all the questions posed by the doctor. The enthusiastic youngsters enthusiastically listed the names of beneficial vegetables and fruits, while also playfully taking on the role of “little nutritionists” to confidently say “no” to health-harming foods such as fried snacks and sugary drinks. For each correct answer, the students received practical rewards from the program.
The doctor also advised TDSers attentively: “The main and supplementary meals at The Dewey Schools provide sufficient minerals and beneficial vitamins. You should remember to supplement plenty of green vegetables, limit the consumption of sugary drinks, engage in regular physical exercise to boost metabolism, and maintain a healthy diet.”
After the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thi Nhung praised the TDSers: “Typically, the school nutrition education program is very lively because at the elementary school age, you have a lot of learning energy. In the seminar, you demonstrated intelligence by being able to read the names of healthy foods, understanding the importance of limiting unhealthy foods, and emphasizing physical activity to enhance your health. Particularly noteworthy was your enthusiastic participation in interactive activities, answering questions eagerly to receive prizes, and your attentive listening to information.”
The Dewey Schools hope that the valuable knowledge shared during the Nutrition Seminar will assist TDSers in maintaining a healthy diet, enhancing your sportsmanship, and ultimately fostering excellent health for your educational journey and exploration of the fascinating world ahead.
