First Grade is not just an important milestone; it’s also an emotional journey that marks a significant chapter in a child’s life as they experience a new learning environment, make new friends, and encounter their first lessons.
Many children may still feel shy and uncertain during those early days at school. These emotions arise naturally, much like the imagery described by writer Thanh Tinh, “…like a fledgling standing on the edge of its nest, looking at the vast sky, eager to fly but hesitant and fearful.”
However, a year of Pre-school education at The Dewey Schools has equipped them with independence, taught them how to adapt to a new learning environment, and developed their communication skills with peers and teachers. They have become accustomed to sitting at their desks, listening to their teachers, and expressing their thoughts with growing confidence. These small lessons have made the TDSers more resilient, ready to embrace the new and exciting experiences of first grade. Now, as they officially enter first grade, they carry with them not just knowledge, but also confidence and a strong desire to learn.
At TDS, classrooms are designed to spark creativity and curiosity. The lively chatter, colorful educational games, and captivating stories turn each school day into an exciting adventure. The children not only learn letters and numbers but also how to love, share, and cooperate with one another.
First grade is a long journey, but with the guidance and care of the teachers at Dewey, the students will easily adapt and make progress each day. This is just the beginning of a hopeful journey, a long road ahead where each school day will be filled with joy, discovery, learning, and growing in a nurturing environment.
Let’s look forward to the bright future of our first graders as they embark on their first learning adventure!
