Instead of memorizing boring formulas, we get to envision ourselves as secret agents deciphering codes. Instead of sitting still to solve equations, we’re diving into games and conquering thrilling challenges. Join us for a “break-in” session during math class to understand why we’re so passionate about this subject at The Dewey Schools!
With the theme “Escape The Room”, our 5th graders embark on a role-playing puzzle-solving adventure. Imagine being trapped in a mysterious house, where we become skilled young engineers, detectives, cracking “tough” codes to find our way out. In the first two challenges, we apply math formulas to solve puzzles, trying to get out from the chimney and attempting to sabotage the security systems. In the final challenge, we become “little engineers” to complete complex 3D “projects” using geometric knowledge. Tough math lessons have now transformed into exciting class sessions.
To Gia Han – a 5th grader from Chicago, proudly showcasing the “project” completed by her and friends in the group. Gia Han shared that thanks to such lessons, we can easily enhance our understanding and ability to apply knowledge.
Ms. Monabelle Timosa – our math teacher – shared that integrating math concepts into real-life situations makes math more relatable and approachable, aiding our easy access to knowledge.
At The Dewey Schools, our teachers always find ways to liven up lessons through real-life experiences. Thanks to this, every class with us is filled with happiness and joy.
