As part of a series of activities to welcome students to our new home The Dewey Schools Tay Ho Tay, the Amazing Race scavenger hunt was extremely looked forward to with the participation of students, teachers and staff members.
The Elementary and Middle school students had to overcome different challenges with appropriate difficulty levels to find the 4 stolen treasures called INTEGRITY – PASSION – GENEROSITY and LIFELONG LEARNING.
The challenges took place one after another at prominent locations in the school such as the Football field, the Basketball court, the 1000 seat theater, Music rooms, Art rooms, the Amusement Park, library, … with a series of interesting games that train children’s patience, critical thinking and teamwork skills.
After completing a challenge, each class would receive a score card and a puzzle piece containing a hint.
The class that completed all the puzzles to find out the name of the treasure would be the winner at the Gym hall which is also the final location. Each grade would have one champion to ensure fairness of age, knowledge and stamina when competing.
The Amazing Race finished when all classes found the stolen treasure. This activity has helped students to partly memorize the map of the large new school and initially familiarize themselves with moving between locations to get ready for the first official lessons at The Dewey Schools Tay Ho Tay.
