To enhance awareness and skills in fire prevention and firefighting (FPFF) as well as rescue operations for all staff, teachers, and students, The Dewey Schools organized a training session and FPFF drill in collaboration with the Fire Prevention and Police Team of Bac Tu Liem District at the beginning of the new school year.
During the theoretical training session, Major Tran Van Han from the University of Fire Prevention and Firefighting equipped all students and staff with essential knowledge about the causes and dangers of fires, particularly CO2 poisoning, along with skills in emergency evacuation, the use of fire extinguishers, and how to contact authorities in case of an emergency. Major Han emphasized that thorough preparation in both psychology and FPFF skills can help reduce panic when facing a fire, thereby ensuring the safety of lives and property.
The practical drill was conducted with a simulated scenario of a fire outbreak within the school. Upon receiving the fire alarm, the entire system swiftly initiated evacuation procedures. On-site personnel quickly moved assets and equipment out of the danger zone, organized the rescue of those trapped, and administered first aid to the victims. Upon notification, the emergency response teams promptly arrived, coordinated rescue efforts, and utilized specialized equipment to control and extinguish the fire in a short period. The drill was successfully completed, reinforcing the adherence to fire safety regulations within the school.
Ms. Vu Thi Le Hang, Head of School Safety Operations and QA at Dewey Tay Ho Tay, affirmed, “This activity not only raises the sense of responsibility among staff and teachers in complying with the Fire Prevention and Fighting Law but also enhances the coordination and technical firefighting skills among various forces, thereby creating a safe, orderly, and sustainable learning environment.”
The training and drill helped teachers, students, and staff better understand the importance of fire prevention and fighting efforts, thereby increasing awareness of protecting lives, property, and the environment. This activity also contributes to the promotion of safety awareness, ensuring security and fire safety both within and outside the school.
