COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITIES
Community service activities are crucial in the education of The Dewey Schools which always upholds the responsibility to the community and towards humanistic values in society.
Students are educated while their empathy, caring, and understanding of global and local issues are nurtured and developed. The school encourages students to research and brainstorm solutions to solve problems and create their own community projects and volunteer activities. Students have been empowered to experiment with ideas and act with their own solutions, thereby confidently bringing positive values to the surrounding community and together creating a better world starting now.
The charity trip in Quang Binh
Teachers, parents, and students contributed to the construction works at 2 disadvantaged schools at Quang Binh in terms of education and health: Bo Trach Ethnic Minority Boarding School & Con Roang Village Kindergarten.
18 representatives from Grades 7 to 10 together with school and parent representatives joined their hands in building charitable construction works at 2 schools: Bo Trach Boarding School & Con Roang Kindergarten. These 2 schools are close to the Vietnam-Laos border where 100% of the inhabitants are the people of Ma Coong, Chut, and Bru-Van Kieu ethnic minorities with disadvantages in education and health. Dewey students and the students there learned, studied, and experienced the same life as Bo Trach Boarding School students and proactively organized learning activities in “Learning by doing” lessons.

"Let's Save Our Sea" Project
Students implemented the community project “Let’s save our sea” with activities to research the current state of marine environmental pollution, learn about recycling classification and waste treatment and improve human responsibility to the marine environment.
8th graders at The Dewey Schools Hai Phong researched the current state of marine environmental pollution, learned about recycling classification and waste treatment, and improved human responsibility to the marine environment. The students also had a field trip at 295 Do Son Beach to join in cleaning the beach together. After using the gloves, the students gave them back to the environmental sanitation workers here as a way to share the hardships as well as to further raise the awareness of residents and visitors about ocean conservation. Using recycled waste, TDSers created posters that simulate marine habitats with the theme of preserving biodiversity and marine ecosystems and reducing ocean plastic waste. The project received a positive response from teachers and students of Van Son Primary School in signing the pledge to join hands to protect the natural marine environment. When coming back to TDS, the students encouraged their peers to bring personal cups and water bottles when buying drinks at G-coffee to say no to disposable plastic products and use environmentally-friendly products instead.
