Is academic achievement the only factor for university applications?
Is choosing a career simply about following social trends?
These are just two of the many questions that TDSers had answered at the Dewey Career Fair, organized by The Dewey Schools Ocean Park. TDSers had the opportunity to meet and directly engage with over 20 experienced professionals, including parents and partners of the school, from a wide range of fields such as Finance & Accounting, Business & Management, Law, Journalism, Healthcare, and Psychology. This career event was a practical career guidance initiative designed to meet the needs of 9th and 10th-grade students, helping them position themselves and find the right path for their future.
Ms. Nguyễn Thùy Dương, an expert in the Education & Training field and also the parent of TDSer Nguyễn Nam Anh (6London), was approached by many students for advice and consultation. She shared, “Through today’s counseling activities, I can see that the students have taken a proactive approach. Even though they are in 9th or 10th grade and may not yet have fully determined the profession they want to pursue, they have built a solid foundation in career orientation and have a good understanding of various industries. As a parent with a child at Dewey Ocean Park, I truly appreciate the school’s investment and support for my child.”
The event not only provided valuable information from experts but also offered TDSers insightful perspectives on various professions, helping them identify career options that align with their personality and interests. Lương Quốc Dũng (10Vancouver) shared after the event, “Marketing is a field I’m interested in. Before coming to the Dewey Career Fair, I had many questions about the industry, such as the skills required to succeed in it. Today, meeting a marketing and communications expert, I got answers to my questions and learned that I need to develop additional skills like content creation to support my future career.”
Ms. Nguyễn Thùy Dương, a Career & University Advisor at Dewey Ocean Park, commented, “The presence of experts at the Career Fair plays an important role in providing students with a realistic and objective view of various professions. The experts not only share their experiences but also serve as sources of inspiration, helping students better understand the opportunities and challenges in different fields. Through answering questions about industries and updating labor market trends, students gain a realistic perspective on the careers they are interested in.”
At The Dewey Schools, the institution focuses not only on career orientation for high school students but also implements career education programs starting from grade 6. Through subjects, real-life projects, and career experiences at reputable companies, students not only explore their interests and strengths but also gain a deeper understanding of various industries, enabling them to make informed decisions about their future. Particularly, the Career and University Advisory Office has been established at Dewey Ocean Park to support TDSers in building career paths, choosing professions, and preparing application documents for universities both in Vietnam and abroad.
