Having studied for nearly 10 years within the Edufit system – from Sakura Montessori International School to The Dewey Schools – Vu Bao Nam Jacob, a 4Wellington student, has left a lasting impression on teachers and classmates alike. Beyond his striking light brown hair, large round eyes, and ever-present smile, Jacob wins hearts with his kindness, politeness, and a heart full of love.
“I feel like I’ve grown and matured each year. At school, I’ve learned to love, share, and care for those around me. I am proud to be a student of Sakura and Dewey – places that have given me beautiful memories, dedicated teachers, and friends who are always willing to help. To me, school is truly a second home,” Jacob shared, his eyes shining and his smile beaming.
Jacob’s journey began at Sakura Montessori, the preschool that planted the seeds of his love for learning and curiosity about the world. Moving on to The Dewey Schools, he quickly adapted and built strong connections with his teachers and peers. Immersed in a modern learning environment that bridges and inherits the experiential teaching methods of both schools, Jacob faced no difficulties transitioning from preschool to primary school. Over time, he developed independence and self-directed learning skills.
Jacob has a special passion for science at Dewey. His eyes light up whenever he talks about the exciting experiments in class: “I really enjoy learning science. Every lesson and experiment my teachers guide us through sparks curiosity and makes me want to explore even more. It pushes me to constantly ask questions and search for answers until my curiosity is satisfied.” Beyond the classroom, Jacob nurtures his love for knowledge through books and, uniquely for his age, printed newspapers – a hobby rarely seen among children his age.
Accompanying Jacob during the early years of this journey, Ms. Laura Dawes has always been a strong source of inspiration for him. She shared: “As both a mother and a teacher at the school, I have complete trust in the educational methods and learning environment that Jacob has experienced and continues to thrive in. I’ve witnessed his remarkable growth day by day, not only in his learning mindset but also in the way he cares for and loves those around him. He’s enthusiastic about completing his homework and enjoys sharing fascinating stories after a day at school. Through this, I can feel the joy and happiness he finds in being at school. It reassures me and reflects exactly what I wish for Jacob in his time at Sakura and Dewey.”
Sakura Montessori and The Dewey Schools hope that in the next steps of Jacob’s journey, with the support of his teachers, family, and his unceasing spirit of learning, he will continue to shine in his own unique way, carrying with him the pride and love of the schools he has grown up with.
