Kicking off 2025 with excitement, The Dewey Schools launched a vibrant career-oriented series packed with engaging events. Beyond traditional school workshops, high school TDSers gained invaluable experiences by visiting top-tier universities in Vietnam and exploring trending career paths. Let’s recap the most remarkable activities from January!
#1 Workshop: “Preparing University Application Portfolios”
With a full YSEALI scholarship and over seven years of experience helping Vietnamese students gain admission to prestigious universities such as Yale, Brown, and Pennsylvania, guest speaker Trần Thùy Linh revealed essential tips to boost TDSers’ chances of securing spots at renowned American institutions.
In this workshop, Linh emphasized key elements of an impressive application portfolio, including academic achievements, creative personal essays with compelling storytelling, and standout extracurricular activities. She encouraged students to start their preparation early—ideally by the end of middle school—to optimize their university application journey. Beyond practical insights, the workshop inspired TDSers to pursue their dreams of studying abroad.
#2 Workshop: “How to Shape Your Career Path Early?”
This special workshop was led by none other than TDSers from Class 10Edmonton. Through spirited discussions and sharp debates, they collaboratively designed career roadmaps for fields such as arts, sciences, business, and law.
Boasting remarkable academic and extracurricular accomplishments, the students of 10Edmonton shared inspiring stories of their journeys toward discovering future professions. They distilled three key pieces of advice for their peers:
- Don’t hesitate to adjust your career path when necessary.
- Hands-on experience is the key to self-discovery.
- The best career is one you love and are passionate about—not necessarily the one with the highest salary.
As part of the series, TDSers also had the opportunity to meet photographer Nguyễn Minh Vũ, currently living and working in the U.S. Vũ shared an inspiring story of a Vietnamese student’s growth journey in America, offering practical insights into product photography. His session illuminated the opportunities and challenges in this creative field.
#3 University Visits to Top Institutions
A highlight of this career series was the chance to visit renowned universities such as Foreign Trade University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and Swinburne University. TDSers explored three trending disciplines—Marketing Communication, Information Technology, and Business Administration—guided by university professors.
Students also learned about admissions processes and scholarship opportunities at each institution. Minh Ngoc (11Sedona) shared, “This trip not only allowed us to experience university life firsthand but also laid a solid foundation for choosing the right career path.”
The career-oriented series at The Dewey Schools in January concluded, but it has opened up countless opportunities for TDSers to explore and define their future professions. These experiences serve as a strong foundation, empowering students to confidently pursue admission to top universities.
