POSITION TITLE: IB DP Coordinator

- Roles & Responsibilities:
The IB DP Coordinator is a key leadership position at The Dewey Schools (TDS) and is responsible for the whole academic management and development of the IB DP program. This position is involved in the whole school implementation of the IB DP programme and is the direct point of contact with the IBO in matters pertaining to the Diploma Programme.
DP Coordinator responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the IB Head of school (Hos) in the leadership and management of the High school (Grade 11-Grade 12)
- Assist the IB HoS in ensuring that the IB Diploma Programme is implemented and developed in line with the requirements of the IB Standards & Practices, the General Regulations for the Diploma Programme, and other IB-mandated guiding documentation
- Leading the admission process for students entering the DP
- Ensuring that accurate student records are maintained through ManageBac
- Ensuring that teachers are kept up to date with the latest news, curriculum guides and other guiding documentation from the IB
- Provide guidance of the mock and final examinations and the orals, taking overall responsibility for the running of the examinations, the safe-keeping of examination materials and the dispatch of all papers and examination documents to the IB through the required channel.
- Ensuring a focus on student learning and best practice in teaching, and on achieving the aims as outlined in the School Mission and Vision
- Liaising with the IB Head of School an annual IB Diploma budget
- Liaising with the IB Head of School to develop, follow, and update a DP Action Plan as a guide to the ongoing development of the IB DP at TDS
- General Administration Management
- Establishing a clear timeline of events from Grade 8-12, together with the MYP.
- Coordinator, which leads students, teachers and parents into and through the Pre-IB DP and the DP
- Overseeing curriculum review and facilitating curriculum development and documentation.
- Developing and using assessment results to inform curriculum review and development.
- Administering the Extended Essay (EE) through the EE Coordinator ensuring that teachers and students are properly informed about the requirements, guidelines and assessment criteria.
- Overseeing the administration of the CAS programme, through the CAS Coordinator.
- Work closely with the PYP Coordinator, MYP Coordinator, and Department Heads to ensure curriculum articulation.
- Academic Management
Pedagogical Leadership
- Ensuring that teaching and learning promotes the IB Learner Profile, and the values of the IB Mission Statement.
- Mentoring teachers and modeling good inquiry practice in the classrooms.
- Ensuring that teaching and learning enable students to develop lifelong learning skills and to be well-prepared for the appropriate IBDP examinations.
- Ensuring that the planning and teaching of Approaches to Learning Skills build on skills from Grade 10 and develop them further throughout Grades 10, 11 & 12.
- Overseeing the teaching of TOK and its embedding into teaching and learning throughout the programme
- Facilitating, promoting, and leading collaborative planning.
Professional Development
- Chairing regular Diploma Programme team meetings at various levels across the school.
- Delivering and helping develop DP information workshops for all staff.
- Identifying DP professional development needs and opportunities on and off campus.
- Providing orientation sessions for all new staff, as necessary.
- Assessing the professional development needs of Diploma Programme teachers and coordinating their participation in appropriate workshops.
- Student Support Management
- Ensuring that candidates meet programme and examination requirements and fulfill IB Diploma regulations.
- Working with the SEN Coordinator to ensure that teachers are aware of students specific learning needs, and ensuring that these needs are being met through the use of appropriate teaching and learning strategies throughout Grades 10, 11 & 12.
- Providing information to students and parents on the most appropriate pathways from Grade 10 into the DP, as well as TDS graduation requirements.

Education and Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an internationally accredited college or university in education or related field
- At least 03-years teaching experience at high school
- English native speaker or near native speaker of English with an English competency of at least IELTS 8.0 or higher
- Leadership experience
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree from an internationally accredited college or university in education or related field
- Experience with IB and program development
- Experience and understanding of best practice in differentiation and inclusion
