With the aim of discovering and nurturing sports talent, The Dewey Schools officially kick off the Team Selection Exam for the 2024-2025 school year. This is an opportunity for students to showcase their passion, affirm their abilities, and represent The Dewey Schools in student competitions across three main sports: basketball, soccer, and swimming.
The sports teams at Dewey will be trained by a dedicated and experienced coaching staff. Notably, the basketball team will be guided by several professional sports stars, including Hoang The Vinh, Assistant Coach of the Vietnam National Basketball Team and Coach of the Hanoi Basketball Team; Hoang The Hien, Coach of the Hanoi Youth Team; and Alex Tran, Assistant Coach of the Hanoi Women’s Team, along with a specialized committee with extensive experience in both competition and training. The systematic and scientific training programs developed by these coaches have successfully trained many generations of students to achieve high results in various competitions. This is why the current selection process is attracting a large number of TDSers.
During the basketball team tryouts, candidates completed skill tests through challenges at three stations: Dribbling, Scoring, and Speed. Outstanding candidates who passed all three stations advanced to the direct competition round. The precise plays, confident demeanor, and creative strategies of these young athletes created an electrifying atmosphere in the gym. Nguyen Ha Anh, a student from 7Amsterdam, shared that her previous competition experience made her feel fully confident in this selection process. “I hope to continue proving myself this year, participate in more competitions, and achieve even more with my teammates!”
The atmosphere on the soccer field was equally lively and intense. From skillful dribbling and fluid passes to decisive goals, everything was executed with confidence and a high level of focus. In the second year of participating in the selection process, Tran Nam Anh from class 5Dodoma still feels incredibly excited: “My soccer skills weren’t very strong before, but after joining the team last year, my fitness and soccer techniques improved significantly. I’m really hoping to make it onto the soccer team again this year so I can have more opportunities to compete and improve even further.”
At the Aqua-Tots “blue raceway,” the swimmers demonstrated their abilities through competitions in four styles: breaststroke, freestyle, backstroke, and butterfly. The candidates not only completed their races at high speeds but also overcame fierce competition from their opponents.
Joining the sports teams at Dewey is not just an opportunity to train and enhance physical fitness, but it also helps students develop social and leadership skills through interaction and teamwork. The experiences gained from these competitions will help them become more confident, persistent, and ready to face any challenges. This year’s teams promise to be the launchpad that will propel the school’s young talents to proud achievements on the sports stage. The results of the team selection exam will be announced this week. Let’s look forward to seeing Dewey’s shining talents excel in the upcoming competitions!
