Excellently obtaining 90% and 70% scholarships in the Business Administration at VinUni University, Khanh An and Duc Hieu (12Madrid) have had a journey rich in experiences in the process of preparing scholarship applications here. In order to impress the Admissions Council of VinUni University, below are the tips that the 12th-grade TDSers have summarized after applying for scholarships.
Application documents should only be one page in length
The crucial factor in your application is meeting the four criteria set by VinUni: Outstanding Ability, Aspiration, Creativity, Commitment (AACC). “Only include the main points you want to encapsulate in a one-page Curriculum Vitae, keeping it concise. You also need to list what makes you suitable and demonstrate vision for each criterion; avoid being overwhelmed with excessive information,” shared Khanh An.
The essay should focus on you and only you.
The essay is an opportunity for the Admissions Board to understand you, alongside academic and extracurricular information. Duc Hieu suggests, “Tell your own authentic story and experiences. Instead of using generic phrases like “how I became this,” “I am passionate about that,” try to substantiate them with your own friendly language and highlight your story uniquely.”
To know oneself is true progress
Being proactive in seeking, connecting, and seeking advice from “seniors” in the school will help you grasp the “golden” experiences that are understood only through experience. “I had the opportunity to meet seniors at VinUni who had previously received scholarships, and I learned valuable lessons and tips from them to write an impressive essay. This initiative will create more opportunities in the scholarship pursuit race,” says Khanh An convincingly.
Outstanding Extracurricular Activities
Extracurricular activities are also one of the prominent factors that showcase the abilities and personalities of each student. Write about extracurricular activities and notable events you have participated in that are relevant to the field you are interested in. Khanh An says, “From positions and opportunities to experience business while still studying in school and being inspired by my mother, I have narrated the story of my learning journey at Dewey. However, quality always outweighs quantity, so participate in and choose truly exceptional events to join.”
In times of stress, let’s smile
The interview round is the gateway for the Admissions Council to experience firsthand and understand your aspirations and dreams. Instead of confining yourself in stress, lost in vast amounts of information, maintain a relaxed and cheerful demeanor. “We grasp information about our passion field, but the atmosphere of the interview can affect my mindset. However, we can ease ourselves by anticipating questions, practicing at home. Additionally, when meeting the Admissions Council, you can also proactively ask them common questions about daily life, weather… to make the interview atmosphere more comfortable,” shared Duc Hieu.
Every scholarship pursuit journey is an experience, a path worth pride. TDSers, remember “every effort will be rewarded.” Wishing all TDSers to seize every opportunity and “win wherever you hit!”
