Vu Le Minh Khoi is an active member of the Dewey Middle School basketball club. Alongside his friends, including Duc Quang, Minh Duc, Levi Nam Swans, and Tue Nhan, he has contributed to the formation of a “golden generation” in the basketball community at Dewey. Minh Khoi and his teammates have achieved impressive results in regional tournaments in Hanoi and other provinces, marking Dewey’s name on the high school basketball arena in Hanoi.

After a two-year break from sports due to a football-related injury, Minh Khoi turned to basketball with some trepidation, unsure of where to begin. His natural athleticism and love for basketball, however, enabled him to quickly adapt to training and competition, nurturing a deep passion for the sport.
During his basketball training and competition, Minh Khoi acquired valuable lessons on persistence, composure, self-respect, respect for teammates and opponents, high solidarity, and emotional control. Through a match where he lacked focus, missed several opportunities, and endured immense pressure, Khoi realized the significance of true friendship among his teammates. His teammates supported and encouraged him, even when his mistakes resulted in the team losing points. Importantly, this experience helped him recognize the need to push past his own fears and the pressure of scores in order to preserve his competitive spirit and deliver an exhilarating match for the audience.
Khoi also shared that the person who influences and guides him towards basketball is his father. His father has been present throughout Khoi’s training, attending the majority of his basketball matches and those of Dewey Middle School’s basketball team. Additionally, Khôoi’s father recorded all the matches for the team to review and learn from for future matches.
“Basketball is a very challenging sport that requires a lot of effort and hard work. Furthermore, basketball is a team sport, and an individual with high skills but lacking in teamwork and coordination cannot form a strong and victorious team. Playing basketball has allowed me to create new friendships and experience the wonderful things that can only be felt on the basketball field,” Minh Khoi shared.
