This story is inspired by the cultural exchange journey in West Vietnam, to the Can Tho Association of People with Disability, Ca Mau Cape National Park, Dong Thap Community College, Nguyen Quang Dieu High School, and Tram Chim National Park, where Ha Phuong (a student of Class 10Tirana) and her friends recorded unforgettable everyday life stories and memories on the journey of growing up and living independently away from home.
After the book idea was put forward, her team enthusiastically participated in writing, editing, illustrating, and translating. In the first month after their journey, the book was completed and released nine months later. This is a great success for the students, who have created their own brand and proved that nothing is impossible with will and effort.
“Westward Journey” is a collection of short stories built around the 10-day journey of 13 teenage students. The book tells about everyday life stories, unforgettable memories, precious feelings, and experiences when children set foot in each new land and met new people.
They and strangers lived together, made their own plans, divided tasks, and got a meaningful journey from the capital to Ca Mau Cape, from the plains to the river, and from Can Tho to Dong Thap.
The stories are very realistic and lightly documented by the inner thoughts, pure feelings, and many unforgettable emotions of teenagers. Each moment fills the flavor of life and life experience for each individual on their adult journey.
1000 bilingual books of this short story collection are now published in both English and Vietnamese in the Thaihabooks: https://bit.ly/mientayduhi-2023
