On the afternoon of January 4th, the volunteer group of H2H-Happy To Help (K11 – The Dewey Schools) participated in the “Tet Market with No Money” at the National Hospital of Acupuncture.
200 gift sets of essential commodities were given to the inpatients of the hospital. H2H was excited to be invited by the hospital to be a sponsor for a stall at the Tet market, hoping their support during this time of the year would give them joy and happiness.
In another activity for the upcoming Tet, H2H – Happy To Help sent 300 gift sets to the students at the Boarding School for Ethnic Minority Students in Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province. Each set consists of a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, a towel, and books, all of which are essential items for students in boarding school. Expenses for the gifts came from sponsors, parents, and the fund raised by fundraising activities of students such as making handmade items and selling things at market fairs.
Hoang Anh, a student from class 11Monaco shared with us, “Last May, we had a field trip to that boarding school in Bo Trach district. Seeing a lack of supplies there, we decided to form the H2H-Happy To Help team with the goal of helping underprivileged students have a better life.”
Sharing about the gift sets for the students at the boarding school, Ha Anh, another student from class 11Monaco said, “On behalf of Dewey students, I hope you could feel our heart and effort from the gifts that you receive. Wish you all a bright new year and a happy Tet with your family.”
“Volunteer and charity activities are paid great attention to at The Dewey Schools. And with this activity, we want it to be a student-focused, with the participation of students from the very first steps to sharing with underprivileged people. We always encourage and facilitate our students to contribute to the community,” said Tran Manh Tung, the director of the Vietnamese program for the secondary and high school levels.
With such meaningful activities, students can understand the value of give-and-take, which nurtures empathy, shares love, raises their sense of responsibility to the community, and helps them receive bright smiles, loving looks, and affection from people around them.
Hopefully, the activities of H2H – Happy To Help will spread wider to promote positive values and inspire TDSers to create a better world.
