There is no need to buy tickets; just bring a beautiful soul. This is the invitation for the project presentation “An Adventure into the World of Drama” brought by the 6th-grade TDSers from 6 Paris and 6 London classes. They will take the audience on a journey through Le Bourgeois gentilhomme, Molière’s classic play, right in the classroom. This is a performance and an opportunity for the TDSers to showcase their witty yet sharp perspectives through unexpected character transformations.
Le Bourgeois gentilhomme is a famous comedy that sharply satirizes the hypocrisy and blind desire for fame and power among the upper class. Monsieur Jourdain, the protagonist, is a perfect example of wealthy individuals who are ignorant yet crave power without realizing the absurdity of their actions. Characters like the tailor, the apprentice, the dance master, and the philosopher are brought to life by the TDSers with playful and creative acting, creating an atmosphere that is both humorous and thought-provoking about the values of life.
What makes this project presentation special is the natural and refined guidance provided by the TDSers. Each group not only presents their unique color but also conveys messages in very distinctive ways. Activities like designing posters, creating costumes for characters, organizing trivia sessions, or hosting a talk show with Molière became playgrounds where the TDSers could unleash their creativity.
A standout feature of this project was the recreation of scenes from the play, especially the “hand-made” costumes that the students designed with great care. These outfits not only depicted the personality of each character but also amazed both the judges and the audience with the limitless creativity of the students. Each costume is a work of art, deeply marked by the personal touch of the TDSers, creating a colorful and meaningful multidimensional picture.
After over three weeks of intense preparation and rehearsals, the TDSers delivered a performance that exceeded expectations. With sharp dialogues, natural and graceful performances, and engaging trivia activities, they created an unforgettable experience. The students not only grasped the deep meaning of the play but also discovered their own creative and performing abilities. Teachers, in turn, not only admired the talents of their students but also witnessed their growth through every step of preparation and contribution.
This project presentation was not just an artistic playground but also an opportunity for students to develop holistically—from creative thinking to communication skills and teamwork. It is the spiritual gift the 6th-grade TDSers send to everyone who joined them on this “Adventure into the World of Drama.”
